Description
First Aid Kit Essentials and Wound Protection
Minor cuts, grazes, and small wounds require practical protection—keeping wounds clean, preventing infection, and supporting healing. Traditional plasters often fail during showering or water exposure, requiring frequent replacement and interrupted protection. Würth Washproof Plasters address these practical challenges through formulation and design specifically engineered for real-world usage—washproof protection enables normal daily activities without compromise or constant reapplication.
Size Variety for Diverse Injury Types
First aid kits often contain plasters in limited sizes, requiring improvisation or improvised alternatives when injuries don't match standard sizes. Small fingertip wounds need small plasters; larger grazes or minor surgical wounds need patch-size coverage. The eight-size assortment eliminates this mismatch—the diversity ensures appropriate-size coverage for injuries from tiny cuts to moderate grazes, providing professional-grade first aid without inventory excess.
Washproof Performance for Daily Living
Water exposure is inevitable in modern life—showering, hand washing, recreational water exposure. Standard plasters degrade in water, losing adhesion and protective coverage. Washproof formulation maintains integrity and protection through water exposure, enabling users to shower, swim, or engage in water activities without plaster displacement. This practical durability means wounds remain protected through normal daily routines.
Ventilated Design for Skin Health
Sealed plasters create warm, moist environments under the backing—conditions promoting skin irritation and potentially degrading healing. Ventilated backing allows air circulation, preventing moisture accumulation. This breathability reduces skin irritation and discomfort, enabling comfortable extended wear without the raw, irritated skin that occurs under sealed plasters.
Low-Allergy Formulation for Sensitive Skin
Many people experience skin irritation or allergic reactions to standard plaster adhesives—latex allergies, acrylate sensitivity, contact dermatitis. Low-allergy formulation minimises these reactions through alternative adhesive chemistry. This sensitivity consideration is particularly important for healthcare workers and people with sensitive skin who may need plaster use despite allergy concerns.
Sterile Individual Wrapping for Hygiene
Bulk sterile storage in sealed boxes maintains sterility until opening; individual wrapping maintains sterility of each plaster until application. This individual protection eliminates contamination risk from bulk handling—each plaster remains sterile regardless of storage conditions or number of times the box is opened. Healthcare settings and hygiene-sensitive applications benefit particularly from this individual protection.
Convenient Box Storage for Access
Loose plasters scatter and become inaccessible; bulk unorganised storage creates frustration during urgent first aid needs. The convenient storage box keeps plasters organised, protected, and readily accessible when needed. Box design supports workplace first aid kits and domestic medicine cabinets—dedicated storage ensures plasters are ready for immediate use.
More Information
Application Instructions
Clean and dry the wound area thoroughly. Rinse the wound with clean water and pat dry completely—moisture prevents adhesion.
Ensure the skin is clean and grease-free. Wipe the surrounding skin with a clean, dry cloth or alcohol wipe to remove oils that reduce adhesion.
Allow skin to dry completely before application. Patience at this stage ensures optimal plaster adhesion and lasting protection.
Select appropriate plaster size for the wound. Choose a size that covers the wound completely with 1–2 cm overlap on surrounding skin.
Open the plaster packaging carefully. Peel open the individual sterile wrapper without touching the adhesive surfaces.
Remove the release backing from the plaster. Peel away the clear plastic backing exposing the adhesive surface, handling only the non-adhesive tabs.
Apply the plaster directly to the wound. Press the plaster firmly onto the wound area, ensuring the central pad covers the injury completely.
Press the edges firmly into place. Apply firm pressure around the plaster edges, pressing for several seconds to activate full adhesion.
Smooth out any air bubbles or wrinkles. Ensure complete contact with skin and no trapped air under the plaster backing.
Allow the adhesive to set for a few minutes. Wait briefly before water exposure, allowing the adhesive to reach full strength.
Change the plaster if soiling occurs. Replace immediately if the plaster becomes visibly dirty or loses adhesion.
Remove gently when the wound has healed. Peel away slowly to avoid skin irritation; reapply if the wound still requires protection.

FAQs
How many different sizes are included in the 120-plaster assortment, and which wounds does each size address?
The pack contains eight different sizes addressing the most commonly needed plaster dimensions. Typical assortment includes sizes ranging from small fingertip plasters for minor cuts and splinter removal, medium sizes for average grazes, and larger patch sizes for more substantial wounds or blisters. The eight-size mix provides appropriate coverage for most household and workplace injuries without specialised oversized plasters. Specific size counts within the 120 total vary by pack configuration.
Is the washproof protection permanent, or does it degrade after multiple showers?
Washproof protection remains effective through multiple showers and water exposures—the formulation is engineered for sustained performance during normal daily routines. However, plaster integrity eventually degrades with extended wear (typically 7–10 days); replace if adhesion weakens, edges lift, or protective coverage becomes compromised. Washproof doesn't mean indefinite protection; it means the plaster won't prematurely fail during the normal daily bathing a person would do whilst wearing it.
Are the plasters suitable for people with latex allergies or adhesive sensitivity?
The low-allergy formulation is specifically designed for people with sensitive skin and adhesive concerns. The hypoallergenic adhesive minimises typical irritation or allergic reactions. However, individual sensitivity varies—if you have known latex allergies or severe adhesive sensitivity, patch-test on a small area first or consult allergist recommendations. The individual wrapping allows discreet testing of a single plaster before committing the full pack.
Can the plasters be used on open wounds that are actively bleeding, or only on cleaned, closed wounds?
Use on cleaned wounds only—the adhesive requires clean, dry skin for effective bonding and won't adhere reliably to actively bleeding wounds. For bleeding wounds, apply direct pressure with clean gauze or cloth for 5–10 minutes until bleeding stops, then clean the area, allow drying, and apply the plaster for ongoing protection. The plasters provide excellent protection for wounds that have stopped bleeding; they're not a substitute for pressure application on active bleeding.
