Description
Reliable Reinforcement for GFRP Repairs
The Würth Vaku 90 Glass Fibre Mat is a specialist reinforcement material for structural repairs in glass fibre reinforced plastics (GFRP). Used in conjunction with Vaku 80 Repair Resin, the mat provides the strength and form required to restore damaged vehicle bodywork, boat structures, and other GFRP parts.
Soft, Flexible, and Easy to Apply
Thanks to its soft texture, the mat can be draped easily into complex forms, enabling precise reconstruction of the original shape. When soaked in Vaku 80 resin, the fibres bind together to create a solid composite repair layer with high durability.
Professional Applications Across Industries
- Automotive and Cargo: Repairing cracks, holes, and cavities in bumpers, panels, and chassis structures.
- Marine and Metal Fabrication: Used for boat building, prototype construction, and restoration of GFRP parts.
- Not suitable for wood applications.
Durability and Performance
With a coating weight of 300 g/m² and a width of 80 cm, the mat provides reliable reinforcement for medium to large repairs. When combined with Vaku 80 resin, the cured composite resists heat up to 80 °C and delivers long-lasting performance.
More Information
Application Instructions
- Ensure the repair area is clean, dry, and free from grease.
- Sand the damaged area with coarse sandpaper to create a key.
- Tear the fibreglass mat into shape (tearing rather than cutting provides smoother transitions between layers).
- Brush Vaku 80 Repair Resin onto the prepared surface.
- Lay the fibreglass mat over the area and soak thoroughly with additional Vaku 80 resin.
- Apply wet-on-wet in several thin steps, ensuring a bubble-free lamination.
- Allow to cure for at least 60 minutes at 20°C before sanding or further processing.
Usage Notes
- Cut the mat 2cm larger than the area to be repaired for best coverage.
- For vehicle body panels, always apply Rust Stop Prime before repair to prevent corrosion.
- Only use in combination with Vaku 80 resin.
- Shelf life information not applicable - supplied as fibreglass matting.
