Description
High-Performance Laminating Resin for GFRP Repairs
Würth Vaku 80 Repair Resin is a polyester-based laminating resin designed to restore damaged GFRP parts by rebuilding shape and stability in combination with Vaku 90 glass fibre mat or other suitable fibreglass reinforcements. It is widely used in automotive, marine, and industrial applications, where structural integrity and long-lasting results are critical.
Balanced Formula with Excellent Handling
The carefully balanced resin mixture provides outstanding application properties, allowing controlled wetting of glass fibre mats and fabrics. Its thixotropic formulation ensures a stable, even layer without sagging, making it highly suitable for large-area or structural repairs.
Efficient and User-Friendly Packaging
The container is equipped with a special lid/outlet system, ensuring smooth pouring and enabling the resin to be fully dispensed. This reduces product waste and simplifies the application process for professional users.
Durability and Performance
Once cured, Vaku 80 forms a rigid, durable repair layer with excellent adhesion. It withstands temperatures up to 80 °C, making it suitable for both vehicle and marine applications. Its fast-curing properties (10–15 minutes working life, 60 minutes drying) allow efficient progress in repair and construction workflows.
System Integration
For best results:
- Use in combination with Vaku 90 glass fibre mats for reinforcing repairs.
- Apply wet-on-wet in multiple thin layers to ensure bubble-free, pore-free surfaces.
- Pre-prime with two-component Multi-Fill primer for corrosion protection and adhesion when applying over metals.
More Information
Application Instructions
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and grease-free.
- Sand the area to be repaired to provide adequate adhesion.
- Mix thoroughly with 2% hardener
- Pot life at 20°C: 10-15 minutes.
- Apply in conjunction with Vaku 90 glass fibre mats/fabric, working wet-on-wet in several thin layers to avoid bubbles and ensure a closed surface.
- Allow to cure: 60 minutes at 20°C.
- Sand cured resin with P60-P80 grit sandpaper before overcoating or further processing.
Usage Notes
- Polyester resin will not harden below 10°C.
- Less is more: apply in multiple thin layers for a pore free finish.
- Always maintain the correct filler-to-hardener ratio to prevent curing issues.
- For optimum adhesion and corrosion protection, pre-prime with two-component Multi-Fill (avoid on-component primers).
