Würth Surface Bonding Agent Primer for Plastic/Wood/Stone is a polyurethane-based primer containing solvents, designed to improve adhesion between adhesives and difficult substrates such as plastics, wood, stone, and concrete. It forms a durable bonding layer that enhances the effectiveness and reliability of subsequent adhesive applications.

Wide Range of Applications

The primer is suitable for use on PVC, ABS, GRP, EP plastics, wood, and porous mineral substrates such as stone and concrete. By pre-treating these materials, it ensures significantly improved adhesive strength, making it ideal for demanding construction, automotive, marine, and industrial uses.

Limitations

The product is not suitable for plastics prone to stress cracking such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), PTFE, PMMA, and polycarbonate (PC). Additionally, when applied to natural stone, it may leave coloured residues—testing on a discreet area is strongly recommended.

Durability and Storage Considerations

As a moisture-reactive primer, the product must be stored and handled carefully:

  • Always reseal the container with the inner plastic lid immediately after use.
  • After pre-treatment, close the can tightly with the screw lid.
  • Once opened, use within 1 month if used regularly, or 2 months if only occasionally opened.
  • Discontinue use if the primer becomes gelled, non-homogeneous, or overly viscous.
  • Do not dilute or mix with other substances.

Application Instructions

  1. Ensure bonding surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease and dust.
  2. Shake the can well before use.
  3. Apply evenly and thinly using a brush or felt applicator.
  4. Allow a flash-off time of at least 30 minutes at 23°C and 50% relative humidity before applying adhesive.
  5. Refer to the technical data sheet for detailed surface optimisation recommendations.

Usage Notes:

  • Processing temperature range: 10°C to 35°C.
  • Avoid contact with plastics at risk of stress cracking (PE, PP, PTFE, PMMA, PC).
  • Do not dilute or combine with other products.
  • For natural stone, test beforehand to check for possible discolouration.

  • Contains solvents - use in well-ventilated areas.
  • Highly flammable - keep away from sparks, flames, and hot surfaces.
  • Avoid skin and eye contact; wear gloves and goggles.
  • Store upright, sealed, and protected from sunlight at =< 25°C.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
