Würth Super RTV Silicone is a premium-grade, single-component sealing and bonding compound that cures at room temperature through a neutral, oxime-based crosslinking system. Its formulation ensures superior elasticity, adhesion, and resistance under mechanical and thermal stress, making it suitable for a wide range of maintenance, assembly, and repair applications.

Outstanding Chemical and Thermal Resistance

The cured sealant demonstrates excellent resistance to a variety of automotive and industrial fluids, including engine oils, transmission oils, coolants, and refrigerants. It remains stable in harsh operating environments, making it ideal for engine compartments, gearboxes, and pump housings. Continuous service temperatures range from -60°C to 260°C, with short-term tolerance up to 300°C.

Neutral Curing - Safe and Non-Corrosive

Unlike conventional acetic-cure silicones, Würth Super RTV Silicone features a neutral, oxime-based curing system, ensuring no corrosive by-products. This makes it compatible with sensitive metals (such as aluminium and steel) and electronic components, including lambda sensors and ECUs, without risk of oxidation or electrical interference.

Controlled Application via Compressed-Air Can

Packaged in a pressureised dispensing system, the product enables clean, uniform bead extrusion for precise joint formation. This ensures professional application quality without the need for manual caulking guns, even in confined or complex geometries.

Each colour formulation of Würth Super RTV Silicone is optimised for specific mechanical and thermal demands:

Black (Art.-No. 08933311) – General-purpose sealing compound suitable for water pumps, oil pumps, front covers, camshaft bearing covers, thermostat housings, oil pans, transmission covers, sunroofs, and door assemblies.

Blue (Art.-No. 08933313) – Ideal for oil pans, valve covers, rear axle housings, crankshaft housings, differential housings, and camshaft bearing covers, where vibration resistance and flexibility are critical.

Grey (Art.-No. 08933316) – Suitable for water and oil pump assemblies, intake systems, accumulators, and gear housings, providing superior adhesion to aluminium and composite materials.

Red (Art.-No. 08933312) – High-temperature variant designed for exhaust manifolds, exhaust flanges, engine covers, oil pans, transmission covers, and intake areas, with short-term heat resistance up to +370 °C.

Application Instructions

  1. Ensure all surfaces are dry, clean, and free from dust, oil, and old sealant residues.
  2. Shake or agitate the can before use, if applicable.
  3. Apply a continuous, even bead of sealant to one surface only - typically the joining part.
  4. Carefully join the mating parts, press lightly, and slide slightly to distribute the sealant evenly.
  5. Separate the parts again to remove any sealant that has extruded internally.
  6. Rejoin the parts within 5 minutes and tighten firmly.
  7. Allow the sealant to cure fully before commissioning - curing time depends on bead thickness and ambient conditions.

Usage Notes

  • Skin formation time: approx 5 minutes at 23°C and 50% RH.
  • Full curing rate: approx. 3mm per 24 hours under standard conditions.
  • Avoid contact with fuel or strong solvents before curing.
  • Prevent sealant from entering internal mechanical components (e.g. gear housings or oil channels).
  • Store between 5°C and 25°C in a cool, dry place.
