Description

Reliable Corrosion Protection

Würth Rust Stop Primer is an epoxy resin-based anti-corrosion coating designed to protect and prime metal surfaces for further finishing. It provides an active protective layer that prevents the onset of rust while ensuring a strong base for subsequent topcoats.

Versatile Substrate Adhesion

With excellent bonding properties, the primer adheres reliably to a wide variety of surfaces including aluminium, steel, galvanised sheet metal, and old paint coatings. It is also compatible with PU and MS polymer sealing compounds, making it suitable for complex finishing systems.

Fast and Efficient Workflow

Thanks to its rapid drying properties, the primer is dust-dry within 25 minutes, and can be painted over after only 10-15 minutes, depending on coat thickness. This allows for quick turnaround in workshop and industrial environments.

Durability and Processing Advantages

The coating is easy to sand and delivers a smooth, even surface for subsequent painting. With a temperature resistance up to 80°C (and brief exposure up to 140°C), it is suitable for use in demanding applications. Its lower solvent content ensures compliance with VOC Directive 1999/13/EC, aligning with modern environmental and safety requirements.

Professional Applications

The product is widely applicable across industries such as vehicle and ship construction, metal and steel fabrication, tool manufacturing, bridge and tank construction, pipeline protection, agricultural equipment, municipal machinery, and general construction.

More Information

Application Instructions

  1. Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from grease, rust, and dirt.
  2. Remove loose rust and paint with a wire brush, scraper, or abrasive tool.
  3. Lightly sand problematic or glossy surfaces to improve adhesion.
  4. Shake the aerosol can thoroughly before use.
  5. Apply a thin initial coat, observing the required flash off time.
  6. Drying time is approx. 25 minutes; the primer can be painted over in 10-25 minutes with all conventional 1K, 2K, and water-based topcoat systems.

Usage Notes

  • After use, invert the can and spray until the valve is empty to prevent clogging.
  • Apply in well-ventilated areas.
  • Observe drying and recoating intervals for best results.
