Removable, Non-Hardening Sealant for Multi-Purpose Sealing Applications

Würth Removable Sealant is a polyisobutylene-based, permanently plastic sealant developed for versatile sealing tasks across the automotive, marine, and equipment engineering sectors. It provides an airtight and watertight bond that remains flexible and removable, ideal for temporary or maintenance-accessible joints.

Permanently Plastic and Non-Hardening

Unlike conventional sealants, Würth Removable Sealant never cures or hardens, maintaining a tacky, elastic consistency that adapts to movement, vibration, or mechanical stress. This property ensures easy disassembly for service and maintenance without damaging substrates or coatings.

Self-Healing Surface Skin

The product forms a light surface skin after application, protecting the joint from dust and contaminants. If the seal surface is damaged or opened, the skin automatically reforms, restoring the seal's protective function.

Excellent Material Compatibility

The polyisobutylene formulation ensures complete compatibility with chrome, painted surfaces, plastics, and rubber, making it ideal for use on caravans, boats, commercial vehicles, and roof assemblies. It does not cause corrosion, softening, or staining on contact surfaces.

Resistant to Environmental Stress

Würth Removable Sealant demonstrates excellent resistance to water, moisture, ageing, and weak alkaline solutions. It withstands temperatures from -30°C to 100°C, remaining effective in a variety of climates and applications.

Ideal for Non-Structural and Temporary Sealing

This sealant is ideal for sealing overlaps, joints, bolted connections, trim strips, and window assemblies, where removeability and rework are important. It can also be used under cover strips, in roof systems, and for sealing equipment housings.

Application Instructions

  1. Ensure the application surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease or dust.
  2. Spray or extrude the sealant directly into joints, grooves, or crevices.
  3. Spread evenly using a spatula, gloved finger, or brush as needed.
  4. After a short flash-off period, excess material can be dabbed off using the sealant itself or bodywork sealing tape.
  5. The sealant forms a skin within several minutes and remains permanently plastic beneath.

Usage Notes

  • Processing temperature: 5°C to 35°C.
  • Temperature resistance: -30°C to 100°C.
  • Shelf life 12 months in original packaging under cool, dry conditions.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation during applications.
  • Not suitable for expansion joints or joints exposed to heavy mechanical movement.
  • The sealant cannot be painted over.
