Description
High-Strength Industrial Adhesive
High-Strength Industrial Adhesive
Würth PUR Rapid Structural Adhesive is a professional-grade polyurethane adhesive designed for structural bonding applications. Its fast-curing, high-strength formula makes it ideal for demanding environments such as window and door construction, staircase manufacturing, and general joinery.
Certified Performance
- DIN EN 204 D4 Classification - suitable for interior and exterior joints exposed to frequent water contact and condensation.
- DIN EN 14257 (WATT 91) - proven heat resistance for window and door applications.
Versatile Bonding Range
The adhesive demonstrates excellent adhesion on:
- Wood and wood-based materials (chipboard, MDF, plywood, solid timber).
- Metals including aluminium, stainless steel, brass, and copper (with appropriate pre-treatment).
- Plastics such as ABS, hard PVC, polycarbonate, GRP, and decorative laminates (with suitable primers where required).
- Construction substrates including concrete, cement fibre boards, natural stone, and tiles.
Paste-Like Consistency
The thixotropic, paste-like formula prevents dripping, enabling precise application even on vertical or overhead surfaces. The adhesive also foams slightly during curing, improving gap-filling ability on uneven bonding surfaces.
Durable and Weather Resistant
Once cured, PUR Rapid offers long-term resistance to moisture, heat (up to +110 °C), and short-term exposure to diluted acids, alkalis, and solvents. It can be sanded, painted, and powder-coated (200°C/30 min) after curing.
Notice:
- Adhesion performance depends on correct surface pre-treatment.
- Direct UV exposure can discolour the adhesive but does not impair strength.
- Not suitable for bonding larch wood outdoors (due to arabinogalactan content).
- Aluminium, copper, and brass must be pre-treated or coated for permanent, age-resistant bonding.
- Bonding gaps >2mm significantly extend curing times; >3mm gaps are not recommended.
- Avoid coating bonded workpieces before full adhesive curing - premature coating may cause blistering.
- Stainless steel and zinc-plated surfaces must be properly cleaned and/or mechanically abraded before bonding.
More Information
Application Instructions
- Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of grease. Pre-treat according to the optimisation table (cleaners, abrasion, primers as necessary).
- Apply adhesive as a continuous bead or spread with a toothed spatula (max. layer thickness: 3mm).
- Join parts within 5 minutes of adhesive application.
- Apply pressure: >= 0.015 N/mm^2 for surface bonding, >= 1 N/mm^2 for solid wood-to-solid wood bonding.
- Maintain pressure until adhesive has sufficiently cured.
- Allow full curing before sanding, machining, painting, or powder-coating.
Usage Notes
- Application temperature: 5°C to 100°C.
- Protect adhesive and bonded joints from UV exposure and permanent moisture.
- Use corrosion protection when bonding metals to absorbent materials (to prevent long-term oxidation).
- Store in original sealed container at 15-25°C.
- Shelf life: 18 months.
