Würth Petrol Injection Cleaner
Würth Petrol Injection Cleaner is a fuel-system additive engineered to remove resinous deposits from injection valves and fuel distributors. The cleaning action restores precise fuel injection, reducing fuel consumption and rough running whilst protecting against corrosion and condensation.
Key Features
- Removes Micro-Range Deposits — The cleaning formulation targets the microscopic resinous and paint-like deposits that accumulate on injection valves, dissolving and suspending them in the fuel for removal.
- Restores Injection Precision — By removing deposits that interfere with proper valve operation, the cleaner restores the precise spray patterns and timing that modern engines require for efficient combustion.
- Reduces Fuel Consumption — Precise fuel injection means more complete combustion and less wasted fuel. Many engines experiencing increased consumption show significant improvement after injection cleaning.
- Ensures Proper Valve Control — Deposits that restrict valve movement or distort spray patterns cause unpredictable fuel delivery. The cleaner removes these restrictions, ensuring valves operate exactly as engineered.
- Binds and Neutralises Acidic Condensation — Water condensation in fuel tanks creates acidic conditions that promote corrosion. The additive chemically binds and neutralises this condensation, preventing corrosion formation.
- Protects Against Corrosion — Beyond condensation neutralisation, the formulation provides protective properties that prevent corrosion in the fuel system.
- Works With All Petrol Engines — Suitable for engines with and without catalytic converters, petrol injection systems of all types including direct injection.
- Preventative Maintenance Application — Can be used at every service interval for ongoing fuel system health, preventing deposit accumulation before it causes problems.
Description
Fuel Injector Deposit Formation and Engine Performance
Modern petrol engines depend on precise fuel injection for efficiency and emissions compliance. Over time, fuel system deposits accumulate on injector tips — resinous compounds from fuel oxidation, combustion residues, and contamination. These deposits restrict fuel flow and distort spray patterns, causing rough running, increased consumption, and poor acceleration. Traditional approaches required expensive injector removal and ultrasonic cleaning. Würth Petrol Injection Cleaner addresses the problem chemically through fuel-system treatment.
Micro-Range Deposit Targeting Through Chemical Dissolution
Injector deposits occur at microscopic scale — thin layers that accumulate gradually. Mechanical cleaning methods are effective but labour-intensive. Chemical dissolution through fuel-system additive targets these microscopic deposits chemically, dissolving them where they form so they suspend in fuel and flow through the system for removal at the fuel filter.
Condensation Chemistry as Corrosion Prevention
Water naturally condenses in fuel tanks through temperature cycling and humidity exposure. This condensation becomes acidic through interaction with fuel compounds, creating conditions that corrode fuel system components. Würth's additive includes compounds that chemically bind to this water, neutralising its acidity and preventing corrosion formation — proactive chemistry that prevents rust before it starts.
Fuel Economy as Performance Indicator
Rough running and increased fuel consumption are often the first symptoms of injection deposit problems. Customers notice these immediately and associate them with engine degradation. Cleaning injectors and restoring precise fuel delivery often produces noticeable fuel economy improvement — a tangible benefit that justifies the treatment.
Preventative Application as Maintenance Strategy
Rather than waiting for problems to develop, professional mechanics use Petrol Injection Cleaner at service intervals as preventative maintenance. This approach prevents deposit accumulation and associated problems, maintaining engine efficiency throughout the vehicle's life.
Universal Compatibility Across Engine Types
The formulation works across diverse petrol engine designs — from older carburetted systems to modern direct injection and hybrid powertrains, with and without catalytic converters. This universality makes it practical for fleet maintenance and general automotive service.
More Information
Application Instructions
- Determine fuel tank capacity — Identify your vehicle's fuel tank size to calculate the correct dosage.
- Select appropriate dosage — Use 150 mL for 25–30 litres fuel tank capacity, or 300 mL for 50–60 litres. Adjust proportionally for different tank sizes.
- Prepare the fuel tank — Ideally, treat the fuel system when the fuel tank is approximately one-quarter full. This ensures good mixing of the additive with fuel.
- Shake the container well — Mix the injection cleaner thoroughly to ensure uniform consistency before emptying into fuel tank.
- Empty contents into fuel tank — Open the fuel filler cap and carefully empty the entire contents of the injection cleaner container into the fuel tank.
- Replace fuel filler cap — Securely close the fuel filler cap.
- Drive the vehicle normally — The additive mixes with fuel through normal driving. No special driving procedure is required.
- Allow treatment time — As you drive, the additive circulates through the fuel system, cleaning injectors and treating the fuel.
- Complete fuel tank cycle — For maximum benefit, allow at least one full fuel tank cycle before refuelling. This ensures the additive has circulated completely through the fuel system.
- Observe improvements — Monitor engine performance for changes in rough running, fuel consumption, or acceleration smoothness in the days following treatment.

FAQs
How often should I use Petrol Injection Cleaner?
For preventative maintenance, use at every major service interval (typically annually or per manufacturer recommendations). For vehicles experiencing rough running or high fuel consumption, use immediately to address the problem, then continue with preventative use at service intervals.
Will this cleaner damage my catalytic converter?
No, Petrol Injection Cleaner is specifically safe for catalytic converters. The cleaning action removes deposits that actually stress the converter, and the additive formulation complies with emissions requirements.
How quickly will I see results?
Fuel consumption improvements are often noticeable after the first complete fuel tank cycle (typically within a few days of treatment). Rough running improvements may be apparent even sooner as deposits dislodge and flow away.
Can I use this in diesel engines?
No, Petrol Injection Cleaner is formulated specifically for petrol engines. Diesel engines require different injection system chemistry and cleaning compounds. Use diesel-specific fuel additives for diesel engines.
