Description

Durable Joint Sealant for Medium Stresses

Würth Neutral Silicone is a one-component, neutral cross-linked silicone sealant formulated for sealing indoor floor and wall joints exposed to medium stresses. Its reliable elasticity and weather resistance make it suitable for a wide range of construction applications where flexibility and longevity are required.

Versatile Adhesion

The product adheres well to most building materials, including glass, ceramics, painted or glazed wood, plastics, and metals such as aluminium, steel, zinc, and copper. It does not cause corrosion on metallic substrates and provides durable adhesion even on porous surfaces when used with a primer.

Long-Term Resistance

Engineered for professional use, this sealant maintains elasticity and stability under load, while resisting UV, weathering, and ageing. It retains performance in varying conditions, making it ideal for expansion joints and general sealing tasks in construction.

Standards and Testing

The sealant has been tested in accordance with EN 15651 Part 1 INT, demonstrating compliance with stringent construction requirements:

  • Fire behaviour: Class E.
  • Stability under load: < 3mm.
  • Volume loss: < 20%.
  • Adhesion/expansion under pre-stress after immersion in water: Passed.
  • Adhesion/expansion at varying temperatures: Passed.
  • Adhesion/expansion after exposure to heat, water, and artificial light: Passed.
  • Tensile behaviour (breaking elongation at 23°C): > 25%.

Important Notes

During curing, the product releases a silicone-typical odour that disappears once fully cured. In larger joints, the odour may remain detectable for longer. Silicone may yellow over time in areas with no UV exposure. This sealant is not suitable for bonding applications, cavity filling, or in conditions of heavy rain during application. Avoid direct contact with VKP tape.

Application Instructions

  1. Ensure surfaces are load-bearing, clean, dry, and free of grease, rust, or standing water.
  2. Do not apply during heavy rain.
  3. Observe the recommended joint dimensions (see technical data sheet).
  4. Use PE back-fill material as required.
  5. For porous or absorbent substrates such as concrete, pre-treat with a silicone primer to ensure optimal adhesion.
  6. Apply evenly using a cartridge gun and smooth before skin formation (approx. 10-15 minutes).

Safety and Usage Notes

  • Preliminary adhesion and paint compatibility tests are strongly recommended due to variations in varnish and glazing formulations.
  • Store in a cool, dry, frost-free environment.
  • Silicone may yellow when used in permanently shaded areas without UV exposure.
