Würth MS Instant Universal Adhesive
Würth MS Instant Universal Adhesive is a fast-hardening MS-hybrid adhesive engineered for rapid bonding across diverse materials. The accelerated initial adhesion and flexible formulation make it ideal for vehicle construction, multi-material assembly, and applications requiring immediate supporting-free bonds.
Key Features
- Accelerated Initial Adhesion — The formulation achieves immediate tack and sticks instantly, eliminating the need for clamping or supporting the bond whilst curing develops. This accelerated property significantly improves assembly speed and labour efficiency.
- Sticks and Bonds Immediately — Components adhere instantly upon contact, allowing positioning without the support structures required by slower-setting adhesives.
- Very Good Adhesive Range — The formulation bonds effectively across diverse substrate types — metals, plastics, glass, concrete, natural stone, and composites — without requiring substrate-specific adhesive selection.
- Excellent Adhesion to Moist Surfaces — Unlike many adhesives that require completely dry surfaces, MS Instant bonds effectively even on slightly moist substrates, expanding practical application possibilities in real-world conditions.
- Flexible Adhesive Bond — The cured adhesive remains flexible, accommodating thermal expansion, vibration, and material movement without bond failure. This flexibility is essential for joining dissimilar materials with different expansion rates.
- Ecologically Safe Formula — Odourless formulation with no emissions after curing. Free of solvents, isocyanates, and phthalates — compounds that create safety and environmental concerns in other adhesive types.
- High UV Stability — Resists UV degradation, maintaining performance and appearance in outdoor applications without discolouration or brittleness.
- Excellent Weather Resistance — Maintains bonding performance through temperature extremes, moisture exposure, and seasonal weather variations typical of vehicle and construction applications.
- Paintable Wet-In-Wet — The adhesive can be painted over immediately after application ("wet-in-wet" painting) without waiting for full curing, accelerating refinishing schedules.
- Spot-Weldable Bonds — Glued panels can be spot-welded without compromising the adhesive bond, allowing hybrid bonding methods in vehicle construction.
Description
MS-Hybrid Chemistry as Modern Adhesive Advancement
MS-hybrid polymers represent a generation beyond traditional polyurethane and acrylic adhesives. They combine the strength and durability of polyurethanes with the environmental safety and ease of use of silicones and acrylics. This hybrid chemistry delivers performance advantages across multiple dimensions — faster set times, better surface adhesion, lower odour, and reduced environmental impact.
Accelerated Adhesion as Assembly Efficiency
Traditional adhesives require clamping or support whilst the bond develops. This requirement slows assembly speed and creates labour overhead. MS Instant's accelerated adhesion means components stick immediately, allowing assembly to continue without waiting or using support structures. In high-volume production, this efficiency translates directly to cost reduction.
Multi-Material Bonding Without Substrate-Specific Products
Most adhesive selection requires matching the product to specific substrate pairs (metal-to-metal, plastic-to-plastic, etc.). MS Instant's universal range eliminates this complexity — a single product works across metals, plastics, composites, stone, and diverse combinations. This universality reduces inventory complexity and simplifies product selection.
Moist Surface Tolerance as Practical Advantage
Real-world surfaces are often not perfectly dry — morning dew, residual cleaning water, or high humidity. Most adhesives fail on moist surfaces. MS Instant's ability to bond effectively even on slightly damp surfaces extends practical applicability to conditions that would defeat traditional adhesives.
Flexibility as Stress Management
Rigid adhesives concentrate stress at bond edges when joined materials expand and contract at different rates. Flexible adhesives distribute stress throughout the bond area, dramatically improving durability in applications involving thermal cycling, vibration, or material mismatch. This is why vehicle construction increasingly uses flexible adhesives despite the added cost.
Ecological Safety Through Non-Toxic Chemistry
Polyurethane adhesives release isocyanate fumes during curing — health hazards requiring ventilation and respiratory protection. MS adhesives eliminate this concern through chemistry that produces no hazardous emissions, improving workplace safety and environmental responsibility.
Wet-In-Wet Paintability as Schedule Advantage
Waiting for adhesive to fully cure before painting extends project timelines. MS Instant's paintability whilst still wet allows painting to proceed immediately, accelerating completion schedules particularly valuable in vehicle manufacturing and commercial construction.
More Information
Application Instructions
- Prepare surfaces — Clean all bonding surfaces thoroughly. Remove dirt, dust, old adhesive, and contaminants. Dry surfaces are optimal but moist surfaces are acceptable.
- Check material compatibility — Verify that both substrates are among the compatible materials. Do not use on PE, PP, PTFE, silicone rubber, or softened plastics.
- Apply adhesive bead — Using a caulking gun, apply a continuous bead of MS Instant to one of the bonding surfaces. Typical bead size is 5–10mm diameter.
- Ensure minimum thickness — Ensure the adhesive layer will be at least 3mm thick when substrates are joined. This minimum thickness is critical for secure bonding.
- Join the components — Press the substrates together immediately after adhesive application. The accelerated adhesion means they bond instantly without requiring clamping or support.
- Remove excess adhesive — Wipe away excess adhesive with a wet cloth immediately after joining. MS Instant is easier to clean when fresh than after partial curing.
- Allow initial set — Whilst the bond is immediate, full curing develops over time. Allow 24 hours before placing significant stress on the bond.
- Full cure development — At 20°C and 50% relative humidity, full curing develops at approximately 4mm per day. Thicker bonds require extended curing time.
- Paint if desired — The adhesive can be painted immediately after joining without waiting for curing.
- Spot-weld if required — For vehicle construction applications, spot-welding can proceed immediately after bonding without compromising the adhesive.

FAQs
Can I use MS Instant on plastic components?
Yes, MS Instant bonds effectively on most plastics (ABS, acrylic, polystyrene, hard PVC). However, avoid PE, PP, PTFE, silicone rubber, and softened plastics which are incompatible. Test on unfamiliar plastic types first.
Do I need to clamp components whilst the adhesive cures?
No, the accelerated initial adhesion means components bond immediately without requiring clamping or support. This is one of the key advantages over traditional adhesives.
Can I paint the adhesive immediately after bonding?
Yes, MS Instant is paintable wet-in-wet. Painting can proceed immediately after joining without waiting for curing.
What's the minimum adhesive thickness required?
A minimum of 3 mm adhesive thickness is required for secure bonding. Thinner applications risk bond failure. Apply sufficient adhesive to ensure this thickness when substrates are joined.
