Key Features

  • Medium-strength anaerobic flange sealant for sealing flanges and surfaces with gaps up to 0.5mm, providing a liquid replacement for solid gaskets.
  • High gap-bridging capability - completely fills rough, uneven surfaces for a 100% fluid-tight seal.
  • Forms a corrosion-resistant bond that prevents frictional wear, oxidation, and rust formation between mating surfaces.
  • Slightly flexible formulation compensates for thermal expansion differences between dissimilar materials.
  • Removable - medium strength allows easy disassembly with normal tools for maintenance.
  • Resistant to bases, gases, solvents, oils, and fuels, ensuring long-term durability under harsh conditions.
  • Thixotropic, non-sagging formula prevents dripping and ensures clean, precise application.
  • Silicone-free, solvent-free, and oil-free for compatibility with sensitive systems.
  • NSF registered (Class S2) and NSF/ANSI 61 tested, approved for use in service water and drinking water systems.

Description

High-Performance Flange Sealant for Industrial and Automotive Applications

Würth Medium-Strength Flange Sealant is a specialised dimethacrylate-based anaerobic compound engineered for sealing machined flanges, covers, and housings where precise sealing and corrosion protection are required. It replaces traditional cut gaskets by forming a durable, vibration-resistant polymer film between metal surfaces that remains effective under mechanical stress and exposure to fluids.

Superior Gap Bridging and Surface Adaption

Thanks to its high viscosity and plastic-elastic curing characteristics, the sealant completely fills surface roughness and machining marks, achieving a 100% seal even on imperfect or torsion-resistant joints. Once cured, it provides both mechanical bonding and sealing, protecting against micro-movement corrosion and fretting.

Medium Strength - Serviceable Joints

The cured sealant provides a medium-strength bond that ensures long-term sealing reliability while allowing easy disassembly for servicing. This makes it ideal for maintenance-heavy environments where flanges and covers are periodically removed and reassembled.

Thermal and Chemical Resistance

Würth Medium-Strength Flange Sealant performs consistently across temperatures from -55°C to 150°C, maintaining sealing integrity in contact with fuels, oils, coolants, gases, and industrial fluids. Its chemical formulation is stable against bases, solvents, and synthetic lubricants.

Clean and Efficient Application

Packaged in Würth's practical accordion-style bottle, the product enables precise flow control and nearly complete emptying of residual sealant. Its thixotropic (non-running) consistency ensures clean application, even on vertical or overhead surfaces, without dripping or spreading.

Food and Drinking Water Certification

The product is NSF registered, Class S2, and tested to NSF/ANSI 61, making it suitable for service and drinking water systems where there is no direct contact with food. This certification underscores its safety and reliability in industrial, municipal, and food-related applications.

More Information

Application Instructions

  1. Ensure all contact surfaces are dry, clean, and free from oil, grease, and dust.
  2. Apply the sealant evenly to one of the mating surfaces.
  3. Assemble the parts immediately after application.
  4. The compound will cure in the absence of oxygen and in contact with metal (copper or iron ions).
  5. Initial strength develops in 10-20 minutes, functional strength in 3-6 hours, and full cure in 6-24 hours depending on material and temperature.

Usage Notes

  • Processing temperature: +5 °C to +35 °C.
  • Temperature resistance: -55 °C to +150 °C.
  • Avoid prolonged contact with ABS, polycarbonate (Macrolon), PMMA (Plexiglas), polystyrene, SAN, polysulfone, and painted surfaces, which may be affected by extended exposure.
  • Not intended for use on plastic flanges or non-metallic components.
  • Store at room temperature.
