Description

Precision Flange Sealing for Fine Joints and Smooth Surfaces

Würth Low-Strength Flange Sealant is an anaerobic, dimethacrylate-based liquid gasket engineered to provide a reliable, flexible seal between finely machined metal surfaces. It replaces traditional solid or paper gaskets in applications requiring precise sealing of small gaps up to 0.3mm, offering complete protection against leakage, vibration, and corrosion.

Low Strength for Easy Maintenance

The formulation offers low mechanical bonding strength, allowing for simple disassembly using standard tools without damaging the sealing surfaces. This makes it ideal for maintenance-intensive machinery, gearboxes, and enclosures that require regular inspection or servicing.

Excellent Surface Wetting and Application Versatility

Its superior wetting characteristics ensure full contact coverage, even on complicated cast surfaces and smooth flanges. The thixotropic consistency prevents running or dripping during vertical application, maintaining uniform seal distribution across the surface.

Durable, Chemical-Resistant Seal

Once cured, the sealant forms a resilient, gap-filling polymer film that remains stable across a wide range of temperatures (-55°C to 150°C) and resists oils, fuels, coolants, solvents, and gases. It protects joint faces from fretting and corrosion while maintaining long-term sealing reliability under vibration and thermal stress.

NSF-Certified for Water System Use

Würth Low-Strength Flange Sealant is NSF registered, Class S2, and NSF/ANSI 61 approved, making it suitable for use in service and drinking water systems (up to 82°C) It's trusted in both industrial and food-related manufacturing environments where reliability and compliance are critical.

Clean, Efficient Application

Delivered in Würth's accordion-style bottle, the sealant can be dispended cleanly and precisely, with minimal waste. The adjustable nozzle allows for controlled bead application, ensuring consistent coverage and near-total emptying of residual product.

More Information

Application Instructions

  1. Ensure all contact surfaces are dry, clean, and free from dust, grease, and oil.
  2. Apply the sealant evenly to one of the mating surfaces, ensuring full coverage of the joint area.
  3. Assemble the components immediately after application.
  4. The sealant cures in the absence of oxygen and in contact with metal ions (e.g. copper, iron).
  5. Initial strength develops in 15-30 minutes; functional strength within 3-6 hours; full curing typically occurs in 56-24 hours depending on joint size and ambient conditions.

Usage Notes:

  • Processing temperature: 5° to 35°C.
  • Temperature resistance: -55°C to 150°C.
  • Avoid prolonged contact with sensitive plastics such as ABS, polycarbonate (Macrolon), PMMA (Plexiglas), polystyrene, SAN, polysulfone, and painted surfaces, as they may be affected by extended exposure.
  • Not suitable for plastic or non-metallic flanges.
  • Store at room temperature; shelf life 18 months from production.
