Würth High Strength Spray Adhesive
Würth High Strength Spray Adhesive is a professional-grade synthetic rubber adhesive engineered for strong, reliable bonding with variable spray patterns and foaming formula. The low soak-in characteristic and economical application make it ideal for assembly and construction work requiring precise, cost-effective adhesion.
Key Features
- High-Strength Bonding — The synthetic rubber resin formulation creates durable, permanent bonds that withstand stress, vibration, and environmental exposure.
- Variable Spray Nozzle — The adjustable nozzle allows switching between spray patterns to optimise adhesive application for different component sizes and bonding requirements.
- Three-Position Spray Pattern — Offers spray, stream, and foam patterns, allowing selection of the optimal application method for each specific bonding task.
- Foaming Formula — The foaming action reduces material soak-in, controlling adhesive consumption and ensuring efficient use without waste through over-saturation.
- Low Soak-In Characteristic — Foam stays on the surface longer before soaking into porous materials, allowing precise placement and reducing the amount of adhesive required.
- Flash-Off Time Optimisation — 2–5 minute flash-off time allows repositioning and adjustment before full curing, with maximum 5-minute open time for assembly correction.
- Halogen and CFC-Free — Environmentally responsible formulation complies with environmental regulations whilst remaining effective.
- Economical in Use — The combination of variable spray patterns, foaming formula, and low soak-in means minimal product waste and lower cost per application.
Description
Why Spray Adhesives Require Sophisticated Formulation
Traditional contact adhesives require coating both surfaces and waiting for flash-off before joining — a labour-intensive process prone to misalignment. Spray adhesives simplify this by applying to one surface and allowing brief assembly time before full curing. However, formulating spray adhesives that are economical, controllable, and strong requires engineering balance between evaporation rate, viscosity, and bonding chemistry.
Foaming Technology for Controlled Application
Foam-based spray adhesives float on the surface longer than liquid sprays, allowing precise placement and preventing excess saturation of porous materials. The foam also provides visual feedback of application coverage, helping operators apply consistent amounts across components. This control reduces both waste and assembly errors.
Variable Spray Pattern as Application Flexibility
Different assembly tasks require different spray characteristics. Some components need broad, even coverage; others need precision spot application. The three-position spray nozzle adapts to these varying requirements without requiring multiple products or tools.
Synthetic Rubber Chemistry for Durability
Synthetic rubber adhesives provide excellent flexibility and impact resistance compared to rigid adhesive types. This makes them ideal for bonding materials with different thermal expansion rates or components subject to vibration and stress.
Flash-Off and Open Time as Assembly Window
The 2–5 minute flash-off with 5-minute maximum open time provides adequate time for positioning and minor repositioning without requiring instantaneous precise placement. This window is critical for assembly line efficiency — too fast and positioning becomes difficult, too slow and productivity suffers.
Halogen and CFC-Free Environmental Responsibility
The absence of halogens and CFCs reflects modern environmental standards. These chemicals were historically used in adhesives but cause ozone depletion and environmental harm. Würth's formulation maintains strength without these problematic compounds.
More Information
Application Instructions
- Prepare surfaces — Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dust or contamination that would interfere with adhesive bonding.
- Select spray pattern — Determine which of the three spray patterns is optimal for your application: spray for broad coverage, stream for precision, or foam for controlled application on porous materials.
- Adjust spray nozzle — Rotate the variable nozzle to the desired spray pattern position.
- Shake the aerosol can — Mix the adhesive thoroughly to ensure uniform consistency and optimal bonding characteristics.
- Apply to primary surface — Spray the adhesive onto one of the surfaces to be bonded, using the selected spray pattern for even coverage.
- Observe flash-off time — Allow 2–5 minutes for the adhesive to flash off (solvent evaporation), during which the adhesive develops tack.
- Position components — Within the 5-minute open time, position the second component onto the adhesive-coated surface.
- Allow full curing — Press surfaces together and hold firmly for several minutes to ensure proper bonding. Full curing develops over several hours depending on materials and temperature.
- Avoid disturbance during curing — Do not subject the bonded assembly to stress or movement during the curing period.
- Clean up excess — Any excess adhesive can be removed with a clean cloth before curing is complete.

FAQs
What spray pattern should I use for different applications?
Use spray for broad, even coverage on large surfaces; stream for precision spot application on specific areas; foam for porous materials where controlling soak-in is critical. Test patterns on sample materials first to confirm optimal choice.
Can I reposition components after spraying adhesive?
Yes, the 5-minute open time allows repositioning. However, avoid excessive movement that would break the tacky bond. Position carefully and hold components firmly once aligned for proper adhesive flow and bonding.
Will this adhesive work on plastic components?
The adhesive works on most materials, but is specifically not suitable for plasticated PVC or expanded polystyrene. Test on other plastics first to confirm compatibility before full-scale application.
How much adhesive do I actually need for bonding?
The foaming formula and low soak-in rate mean you need less product than traditional liquid adhesives. Start with light application — you can always apply more if needed, but excess wastes product and can create messy assembly.
