Description

Overview

Würth Glass-Clear Adhesive Sealant is a universal, high-performance, silane-modified polymer (SMP) adhesive designed for durable, elastic bonding and sealing applications. Its glass-like transparency makes it particularly suitable for visible joints, edge seals, and adhesions where a discreet finish is essential.

Performance and Technology

Formulated without silicones, solvents, or isocyanates, this sealant provides superior adhesion across diverse substrates including metals, plastics, ceramics, and coated surfaces. Once cured, it forms a stable yet flexible bond that compensates for normal expansion and dynamic stresses, maintaining structural integrity over time.

With a tensile strength of 2.2 N/mm^2 and a breaking elongation of 250%, the adhesive combines high elasticity with robust bonding power. It is resistant to water, diluted inorganic acids, alkaline cleaning agents, and demonstrates short-term resistance to fuels, oils, fats, and aliphatic solvents.

Versatility and Applications

Ideal for use in industries such as construction, electrical installation, metal and plant engineering, vehicle and bodywork repair, caravan/container assembly, and even food, beverage, and pharmaceutical facilities. Its broad compatibility makes it a go-to choice for sealing and bonding in multi-material environments.

Limitations and Notes

Due to long-term IV exposure, the sealant may yellow or become brittle outdoors, making it better suited to interior applications or areas not exposed to direct sunlight. It is not suitable for building expansion joints, glazing rebate gaskets, permenantly wet joints, or alkyd resin-based surfaces. Always apply on fully cured paint systems.

Professional Standards

The product is tested in accordance with EN 15651-1, F-INT, ensuring compliance with European construction standards.

More Information

Application Instructions

  1. Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease or dust.
  2. For best adhesion, follow the optimisation table (cleaning, abrasion, priming where recommended).
  3. Always test stability on sensitive materials before application.
  4. Cut off the thread cap, screw on the nozzle, and trim to the required bead size.
  5. Apply with a suitable cartridge gun, ensuring a minimum adhesive thickness of 3mm to maximise bonding strength.
  6. Smooth or tool the sealant before skin formation occurs (approx. 10 minutes at 23°C, 50% RH).
  7. Full curing occurs at a rate of approx. 2mm per day under standard conditions (23°C, 50% RH).
  8. Avoid stress or movement on the joint until sufficiently cured.

Usage Notes:

  • Use in well-ventilated areas; avoid inhaling vapours.
  • Prevent contact with skin and eyes; wear protective gloves if necessary.
  • Not suitable for permanent immersion in water or heavy expansion joints.
  • Store in original container at 10-25°C.
