Würth GenX Petrol and Injection Cleaner
Würth GenX Petrol and Injection Cleaner is a concentrated fuel system treatment engineered to eliminate contamination and restore fuel injection performance. The advanced formulation removes varnish, resin, and oxidation residues whilst eliminating water and extending catalytic converter lifespan through cleaner combustion.
Key Features
- Concentrated Fuel Enhancing Technology — The advanced formulation ensures fuel burns cleanly and efficiently, maximising combustion quality and reducing emissions.
- Eliminates Contamination in Fuel System — The cleaning action targets comprehensive fuel system contamination including suspended particles, varnish, and water accumulation.
- Removes Water from Fuel —Chemically binds and removes water contamination that accumulates in fuel tanks through temperature cycling and humidity, preventing corrosion and microbial growth.
- Cleans Injectors of Residue and Blockages — The concentrated cleaning power dissolves and suspends injector deposits that restrict fuel flow and distort spray patterns, clearing blockages completely.
- Removes Varnish and Resin Deposits — Targets the sticky oxidised fuel residues that accumulate on fuel lines, fuel pumps, injector tips, valve seats, and intake valves.
- Removes Oxidation Residues — Addresses the products of fuel oxidation that degrade fuel quality and create performance-degrading deposits throughout the system.
- Extends Catalytic Converter Lifespan — Cleaner fuel and optimised combustion reduce the contamination load on catalytic converters, extending their functional lifespan and reducing replacement costs.
- Reduces Fuel Consumption — Cleaner injectors and optimised fuel delivery mean more complete combustion and less wasted fuel, with noticeable consumption reduction.
- Improves Engine Starting — Cleaning clogs and deposits restores proper fuel delivery, particularly benefiting cold-start performance and reliability.
- Restores Jet Pattern Precision — Removes deposits that distort injector spray patterns, restoring the precise atomisation that modern engines require for efficient combustion.
Description
Concentrated Formulation as Efficiency Advantage
Most fuel additives are dilute — mixed with carrier oils or solvents to reduce cost. Würth GenX uses concentrated formulation, meaning more active cleaning chemistry per unit volume. This concentration allows smaller treatment volumes (200 mL) to treat larger fuel tanks effectively, improving cost efficiency and ease of transport.
Petrol vs. Diesel Fuel Chemistry Differences
Petrol and diesel have fundamentally different characteristics requiring different cleaning chemistry. Würth engineered GenX specifically for petrol systems — its formulation targets the specific oxidation products, varnish types, and contamination profiles that petrol fuel systems experience.
Water Contamination as Progressive Problem
Water in fuel tanks initiates a cascade of problems — corrosion formation, fuel oxidation acceleration, microbial ("diesel bug") growth, and fuel quality degradation. Traditional approaches focus on one problem; GenX addresses the entire chain by removing the water source that enables these cascading failures.
Injector Deposit Formation and Combustion Efficiency
Modern petrol engines depend on precise fuel injection for emissions compliance and efficiency. Deposits that restrict or distort injector spray patterns cause incomplete combustion, increased emissions, and reduced fuel economy. GenX targets these deposits chemically, dissolving them where they form so they suspend in fuel and flow through filters for removal.
Catalytic Converter Protection Through Combustion Optimization
Catalytic converters degrade when exposed to incomplete combustion products — unburned hydrocarbons and soot that accumulate and block catalyst surface area. By optimising combustion through cleaner injectors and improved fuel delivery, GenX reduces the contamination burden on catalytic converters, extending their lifespan.
Oxidation Residue Removal as Preventative Chemistry
Fuel oxidation is progressive — it accelerates once it starts. Traditional maintenance waits for problems to develop. GenX's oxidation residue removal prevents the escalation by removing existing oxidation products that would otherwise catalyse further degradation.
Kerosene Base for Effective Cleaning
The kerosene-based formulation provides powerful solvent action specifically effective on petrol fuel system contamination, offering superior cleaning power compared to generic hydrocarbon solvents.
More Information
Application Instructions
- Determine fuel tank capacity — Identify your vehicle's fuel tank size to verify appropriate dosage. GenX is highly concentrated.
- Check current fuel level — Ideally, treat when the fuel tank is approximately one-quarter full. This ensures good mixing of the concentrated treatment with existing fuel.
- Prepare the treatment — Locate the fuel filler opening. Ensure the cap is accessible and undamaged.
- Shake the container well — Mix GenX thoroughly to ensure uniform consistency before emptying into fuel tank.
- Empty contents into fuel tank — Carefully empty the entire 200 mL container into the fuel tank through the fuel filler opening.
- Replace fuel filler cap — Securely close the fuel filler cap.
- Drive the vehicle normally — No special driving procedure is required. Normal driving circulates the treatment through the fuel system.
- Allow circulation — As you drive, the treatment circulates through fuel lines, pumps, and injectors, cleaning and removing deposits.
- Complete fuel tank cycle — For maximum benefit, allow at least one complete fuel tank cycle before refuelling. This ensures the concentrated treatment has circulated thoroughly throughout the system.
- Observe improvements — Monitor fuel consumption, starting characteristics, and engine smoothness over the following days as deposits dissolve and fuel system performance improves.
- Note reduced consumption — Fuel economy improvement is typically noticeable after the first complete treatment cycle as injection efficiency improves.

FAQs
How much GenX do I need for my fuel tank?
The 200 mL concentrate treats standard-size fuel tanks (40–70 litres). For smaller tanks, you can use a proportional amount. For confirmation, check vehicle specifications for your fuel tank capacity.
Will GenX damage my catalytic converter or oxygen sensors?
No, GenX is designed to extend catalytic converter lifespan by reducing contamination through optimised combustion. The cleaner fuel and improved injection actually benefit these components.
How quickly will I see fuel consumption improvement?
Fuel consumption improvements are typically noticeable after the first complete fuel tank cycle (a few days of normal driving) as injection efficiency improves and combustion becomes more complete.
Is GenX safe for all petrol engines?
Yes, GenX is formulated for all petrol engines with fuel injection systems. It works across diverse engine sizes and technologies, from small passenger cars to larger engines.
