Description
Safe and Effective Leak Detection
Würth CO2 Test Liquid is a specialised diagnostic fluid designed to be used in combination with the Würth CO2 Leakage Tester. It provides a quick and reliable method for detecting leaks between the combustion chamber and cooling system, which are often caused by a faulty head gasket, cylinder head hairline cracks, or block damage.
Environmentally Sound and Non-Hazardous
Unlike many test fluids, this solution is acid-free, non-flammable, and non-harmful according to EU Directives 67/548/EEC and 1999/45/EC. It can be safely handled and disposed of without environmental risks, making it suitable for both workshop and mobile diagnostics.
Accurate Diagnosis Through Colour Change
During testing, if CO2 is present in the cooling system air buffer, the fluid undergoes a distinct colour change.:
- Blue = no CO2 present (no combustion leak detected).
- Green to Yellow = CO2 detected (possible head gasket or cylinder head fault).
This clear indication allows technicians to make a rapid and precise diagnosis without dismantling the engine.

Application Instructions
- Insert the Würth CO2 Leakage Tester into the coolant filler neck or expansion tank opening.
- Ensure that no coolant is drawn into the tester during the process.
- Operate the suction ball to pull gases from the cooling system into the tester.
- Observe the middle chamber. If the liquid remains blue, no combustion gases are present. If it changes to green and then yellow, CO2 is present, indicating a leak.
- Dispose of the test fluid responsibly after use.
Usage Notes
- For diesel engines, place the engine under load before testing (test drive or repeated revving). This ensures sufficient combustion gas reaches the cooling system, as diesels operate with excess air at light load.
- Always follow the technical data sheet for detailed testing conditions.
- Only use with the Würth CO2 Leakage Tester for accurate results.
