Description
Effective Leak Detection
The Würth CO2 Leakage Tester Set enables technicians to quickly determine whether combustion gases are entering the cooling system. This provides an early warning of cylinder head gasket failures, cylinder head cracks, or engine block leaks, reducing the risk of severe engine damage.
Accurate and Versatile
Thanks to its universal fit on radiator necks and expansion tanks, the tester can be applied across a wide range of vehicles. Even leaks that appear only intermittently under high load or elevated temperatures can be detected. The device is an excellent supplement to a pressure test, which is typically limited to around 1 bar and may not reveal all faults.
Clear Visual Results
The included CO2 test liquid provides a distinct colour change from blue to green to yellow if combustion gases are detected. This ensures straightforward interpretation without specialist equipment. The liquid is acid-free, non-flammable, and environmentally sound, making it safe to use and dispose of after testing.
Workshop-Proven Solution
The tester is particularly valuable in customer service inspections, routine maintenance, and the used-car trade where rapid, reliable diagnostics can provide confidence in vehicle condition.

Application Instructions
- Warm the engine to operating temperature (for diesel engines, place under load by a test drive or rev repeatedly before testing).
- Insert the CO2 Leakage Tester into the cooler neck or expansion tank opening.
- Use the suction ball to draw gases from the cooling system air buffer through the test chamber.
- Observe the middle chamber of the tester. Blue liquid means no leak. Green to yellow, presence of combustion gases, indicating a possible head gasket or engine block issue.
- Dispose of the used test liquid after each test and replace with fresh liquid before the next use.
Usage Notes
- Ensure no coolant is drawn into the tester during operation.
- Always change test liquid after each use for accurate results.
- For diesel engines, accurate results are achieved only when the engine is under load.
