Description
High=Performance Primer for Spot Repairs
Würth 1C Etch is a synthetic resin-based primer formulated to provide strong adhesion and corrosion protection in spot repair situations, particularly on sanded-through areas, bare metal, and paint buildup. It is compatible with steel, zinc-plated steel, aluminium, polyester, and glass-fibre reinforced plastics, making it highly versatile for automotive and industrial applications.
Time-Saving Wet-on-Wet Application
One of the key advantages of this primer is its ability to be painted over wet-on-wet. This eliminates the need for sanding between coats, significantly reducing process time while still ensuring reliable adhesion for subsequent paint layers.
Durability and Coverage
The primer delivers excellent corrosion protection with uniform film build. With a coating thickness of up to 50 µm achieved in 2–3 spray passes, it provides solid coverage and quick drying, ensuring efficient workflows in professional bodyshops and repair facilities.
Application Limitations
The product should not be used in conjunction with polyester or epoxy (EP) products, as chemical incompatibility may affect adhesion and finish quality. It can, however, be painted over with all conventional 1K, 2K, and water-based topcoat systems.
Practical Workshop Use
Supplied in a convenient aerosol format, the primer ensures easy application, with consistent spray patterns at a working distance of 20–30 cm. After use, the can should be inverted and sprayed until the valve is clear to maintain nozzle function.

Application Instructions
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from grease.
- Sand the surface area to provide a proper key.
- Shake the aerosol can vigorously for at least 2 minutes before use.
- Perform a test spray to check spray pattern and flow.
- Apply 2-3 spray passes (30–50 µm total thickness) at a spraying distance of 20–30 cm.
- Allow an intermediate flash-off time of 5 minutes between coats.
- Drying time at 20°C is 20-60 minutes, depending on coat thickness.
- Once dry, paint over directly with all common topcoat systems.
Usage Notes
- Do not apply over polyester or epoxy (EP) products.
- After use, invert the can and spray until the valve is empty to prevent clogging.
- Apply only in well-ventilated areas.
