Description

Carbon Steel Construction and Ruspert Coating

The Timbadeck Decking Screws are manufactured using a high-grade carbon steel core, providing the structural shear strength required for heavy-duty timber decking installations. To ensure long-term exterior performance, the fasteners are treated with a highly advanced green Ruspert organic coating. This multi-layer surface treatment acts as a robust barrier against moisture and atmospheric degradation, offering superior corrosion resistance compared to standard zinc plating. The green finish also provides a low-visibility aesthetic when used with treated timber, ensuring the outdoor wood screws blend seamlessly into the decking surface.

Double-Countersunk Head with Underhead Ribs

Designed for precision and aesthetics, the double-countersunk head ensures the fastener sits perfectly flush with the timber surface. This specific geometry increases the head's structural integrity, preventing shearing during high-torque installations. The inclusion of underhead milling ribs allows the screw to self-countersink effectively. As the fastener is driven home, these ribs actively cut away the surface timber, creating a clean, countersunk recess without tearing the surrounding wood fibres. This results in a smooth, splinter-free finish across the entire decking area.

50° Deep Single Thread and Slash Point

Optimised for rapid insertion, the 50° deep single thread geometry provides a high pull-out resistance, ensuring a secure, long-lasting hold within the timber joists. At the tip, the screw features a precision-milled slash point. This type 17 cutting flute acts as a built-in drill bit, actively cutting through the timber fibres rather than merely displacing them. This mechanism drastically reduces the required driving torque and effectively eliminates the outward radial pressure that typically causes timber splitting, especially near the end of the boards. Consequently, these 4.5 x 65mm decking screws require no pilot holes, significantly accelerating the installation process.

Partially Threaded Design for Optimal Clamping

The partially threaded specification of the screw shank is a critical mechanical feature for professional decking assembly,. When a fully threaded screw is used to join two pieces of timber, it can occasionally cause 'jacking', where the pieces are held apart by the continuous thread. The unthreaded portion of the Timbadeck screw allows the upper decking board to be pulled tightly against the lower supporting joist. As the thread engages solely with the subframe, the head applies downward pressure on the surface board, generating maximum clamping force and ensuring a rigid, squeak-free timber decking structure.
