  2. Prepare the wash solution — For light dirt: add 2 caps (20 mL) to an empty 5-gallon (23-litre) bucket. For heavy dirt: add 4 caps (40 mL). Fill the bucket with water — warm water is preferable as it enhances cleaning effectiveness.
  3. Stir the solution — Mix gently to incorporate the shampoo throughout the water, creating abundant foam.
  4. Work in shade — Wash in shade or under cover, away from direct sunlight. Sunlight can cause shampoo residue to dry unevenly on the paint.
  5. Wash from top to bottom — Begin washing the roof and upper surfaces of the vehicle, working systematically downward to lower panels and wheels. This ensures clean solution is used on less-soiled areas first.
  6. Use a soft wash pad or mitt — Work the foam across the paint using gentle, straight-line motions rather than aggressive circular scrubbing. The foam does the dirt-lifting work — light pressure is sufficient.
