GTechniq C1 Crystal Lacquer is a high-performance ceramic coating engineered with nano-active siloxane to provide long-term paint protection. Unlike traditional waxes or polymer sealants that merely sit on the surface, C1 utilises covalent bonding technology. This process involves the coating swapping molecular structures with the vehicle's paintwork to become a functional, integrated layer of the substrate. This chemical integration is why C1 is renowned for its extreme durability, offering up to 5 years of protection when applied by an accredited professional, effectively shielding the vehicle from acid rain, road salt, and harsh detergents.

Mechanical Resistance and 7H Hardness

A primary concern for vehicle oweners is "marring" or fine spider-web scratches caused by standard maintenance. C1 addresses this by forming a sub-micron crystalline film that reaches a 7H hardness rating. This sacrificial layer is significantly harder than standard automotive clear coats, providing a robust defence against poor wash techniques. By creating a denser surface structure, C1 ensures that the paint remains pristine for longer, preserving the vehicle's resale value and aesthetic appeal.

UV Filtration and Matte Finish Compatibility

C1 Crystal Lacquer is a market leader in gloss retention. In independent weathering tests, C1-treated panels demonstrated superior resistance to UV-induced fading and oxidation compared to standard dealer-applied sealants. Because the formula is optically clear and does not utilise heavy gloss-enhancing oils, it provides a natural, sophisticated finish. This makes it uniquely suited for matte paint finishes and vinyl wraps, where traditional coatings might add an unwanted greasy shine. It preserves the original texture of the surface while providing full hydrophobic and protective benefits.

Application Instructions

  1. Prepare the surface by washing, decontaminating, and performing a final wipe with a residue-removing solvent (panel-wipe).
  2. Work in a controlled, indoor environment with temperatures between 5°C and 25°C, away from direct sunlight.
  3. Apply a few drops of C1 to the provided foam applicator pad.
  4. Close the bottle immediately after wetting the pad to prevent the product from curing inside the container due to heat or air exposure.
  5. Apply the product to one panel at a time using consistent, overlapping strokes to ensure even coverage.
  6. Buff away the residue immediately with a clean microfibre cloth. Follow up with a second clean cloth to ensure no "high spots" or streaking remains.
  7. Replace the applicator pad every 3 to 4 panels to avoid applying hardened product back onto the paint.
  8. Submerge all used microfibre cloths in water immediately after use to prevent the liquid from crystallising and turning the fibres abrasive.
  9. Keep the vehicle dry and indoors for a minimum of 12 hours to allow the ceramic layer to reach full structural integrity.

Usage Notes

  • Safety Precautions: Always wear protective gloves and ensure the workspace is well-ventilated to avoid inhaling vapours.
  • Top-Coating: If layering with GTechniq EXO or C2 Liquid Crystal, wait at least 4 hours after applying C1.
  • For best results, use the product within 3 months of opening and store in a cool, dark environment.
