1. Attach to polisher backing plate — Secure the orange sponge to a professional rotary or dual-action polisher using the hook-and-loop backing system.
2. Select finishing compound — Use fine finishing compounds or polishes appropriate for hologram and swirl removal. The orange pad pairs with P 03/06-LDX and similar finishing products.
3. Prepare the painted surface — Ensure cutting and intermediate compounding stages are complete. The surface should be ready for final finishing.
4. Allow paint to cool to ambient temperature — Do not apply compound to warm surfaces.
5. Apply finishing compound sparingly — Use minimal product. Fine finishing requires less compound than cutting stages.
6. Spread at low speed — Start the polisher at low speed to distribute compound evenly across the work area.
7. Increase to working speed — Increase polisher speed to optimal finishing speed (typically 1000–1400 rpm rotary, 800–1200 rpm dual-action).
8. Work with light to moderate pressure — The medium-hard foam is effective at moderate pressure. Excessive pressure increases heat generation without improving results.
9. Work systematically across panels — Move methodically in overlapping sections, particularly careful on dark paint where holograms show dramatically.
10. Monitor hologram elimination — Observe the gradual disappearance of fine linear marks under proper lighting.
11. Allow adequate dwell time — Allow sufficient time on each section for the fine foam to work on holograms completely.
12. Wipe away residue — Once finishing is complete, wipe away compound residue with a clean microfibre cloth.
13. Inspect final results — Examine the finished surface under various lighting conditions, particularly spotlighting, to confirm hologram-free, crystal-clear results.
