Farecla G-Mop Advanced Polishing Pad

Farecla G-Mop Advanced Polishing Pad is a 6-inch multi-layered finishing foam pad engineered to eliminate holograms and light swirl marks whilst delivering professional high-gloss results. The profiled foam structure allows airflow for superior heat dissipation and rapid gloss enhancement.

Key Features

  • Eliminates Holograms and Light Swirls — The pad's fine cutting action removes the subtle linear marks and light swirls common after polishing with cutting pads, delivering a perfectly clear finish.
  • Multi-Layered Foam Construction — The engineered foam layers work together to provide stability, vibration absorption, and optimal product distribution for consistent results.
  • Air-Flow Profiling for Heat Dissipation — Profiles in the foam structure channel air across the surface, preventing heat buildup during extended polishing and maintaining the optimal working temperatures throughout the session.
  • High-Gloss Finish in Short Working Time — The pad's design delivers exceptional gloss enhancement quickly, reducing total polishing time compared to standard finishing pads.
  • Fine Cutting and Gloss Enhancement — The pad balances fine cutting action for light defect removal) with gloss enhancement (for maximum reflection and clarity), making it ideal for the final finishing stage.
  • Use With Finishing Compounds or Waxes — Versatile compatibility with finishing compounds like Farecla G10 or protective waxes provides flexibility in the final stage of paint correction.

Description

Why Holograms and Light Swirls Appear After Cutting

After using aggressive cutting pads and compounds, the paint surface, while defect-free, often shows subtle linear patterns called holograms or swirl marks. These micro-scratches are created by the polishing action itself and are so fine they're barely visible in normal lighting but become obvious under direct sunlight or spotlights. They don't affect protection but significantly detract from appearance on high-gloss finishes. Eliminating these requires a finishing pad that combines fine cutting action (to remove the micro-scratches) with gloss enhancement (to achieve the brilliant finish expected from professional work).

Multi-Layered Foam as Engineered Solution

Single-layer foam pads lack the sophistication to simultaneously cut finely and enhance gloss effectively. Farecla's multi-layered approach stacks foam materials with different characteristics — combining firmness for cutting action with elasticity for vibration dampening. The layers work together to provide stable cutting without chatter, reducing the risk of creating new swirl marks whilst removing existing ones.

Air-Flow Profiling for Professional Results

The profiled structure in the foam is not merely aesthetic — the air channels serve practical purposes. During rotary polishing, friction generates heat. Uncontrolled heat can damage paint or cause uneven gloss development. The air-flow profiling channels ventilation across the pad surface, naturally dissipating heat before it accumulates to damaging levels. This heat management allows extended polishing sessions without thermal risk and contributes to superior final gloss.

Rapid Gloss Enhancement Through Optimised Design

The combination of fine cutting action, multi-layered stability, and air-flow management allows this pad to achieve gloss enhancement faster than conventional finishing pads. Less working time per panel means faster production work, which appeals to professional detailers where labour efficiency directly impacts profitability.

Final Finishing Stage Within Paint Correction Workflow

The G-Mop Polishing Pad occupies the final stage of a three-stage approach: cutting (aggressive removal of deep defects), compounding (intermediate refinement), and polishing (final gloss enhancement and light defect removal). This staged approach ensures each stage has optimal tool for its specific function, delivering superior final results compared to attempting to accomplish multiple objectives with a single pad.

Application Instructions

  1. Attach to rotary polisher backing plate — Secure the 150mm G-Mop Advanced Polishing Pad to the appropriate backing plate (AGM-BP14 or AGM-BP58) on a compatible rotary polisher (Farecla GPT002, GPT003, or GPT050).
  2. Select finishing compound or wax — Use Farecla G10 Finishing Compound or an appropriate finishing polish/wax. This pad is engineered as a finishing pad and works best with fine-finishing products.
  3. Prepare the paint surface — Ensure cutting and intermediate compounding stages are complete. The surface should be clean and ready for final gloss enhancement.
  4. Apply product conservatively — Apply a small amount of finishing product to the pad or paint surface. Finishing products are concentrated and require minimal product for effective results.
  5. Spread at low speed — Start the rotary polisher at low speed to distribute the finishing product evenly across the work area.
  6. Increase to working speed — Once spread, increase rotary speed to approximately 1200–1500 rpm for optimal gloss enhancement and hologram elimination.
  7. Work methodically across panels — Move the pad systematically across the painted surface, working in overlapping sections to ensure complete coverage and even gloss development.
  8. Monitor hologram elimination — Under proper lighting, observe the gradual elimination of holograms and swirl marks as you work. The air-flow profiling allows continuous heat management even with extended polishing.
  9. Maintain moderate pressure — Let the pad's engineered design do the work — light to moderate pressure is optimal. Excessive pressure can generate heat and reduce gloss development efficiency.
  10. Allow sufficient dwell time — The fine finishing action requires adequate time on each section. Avoid rushing across panels, which reduces gloss enhancement effectiveness.
  11. Wipe away residue — Once polishing is complete, wipe away finishing product residue with a clean microfibre cloth, revealing the mirror-like high-gloss finish.
  12. Final inspection — Examine the finished surface under various lighting conditions to verify hologram and swirl elimination and confirm consistent high gloss across all areas.

FAQs

Can I use the G-Mop Polishing Pad with a dual-action polisher?

No, Farecla specifically does not recommend this pad for dual-action polishers. The multi-layered foam design is engineered for the rotational characteristics of rotary polishers. Using on a dual-action machine would not deliver optimal results and could compromise the pad's performance.

What's the difference between the G-Mop Polishing Pad and the G-Mop Compounding Pad?

The Polishing Pad is a finishing pad for gloss enhancement and hologram elimination, ideal for the final stage. The Compounding Pad is for medium-to-high cutting action and defect removal, ideal for intermediate correction stages. Use the Compounding Pad first, then finish with the Polishing Pad.

Can I use the polishing pad with products other than Farecla G10?

Yes, the pad is compatible with any finishing compound, polish, or wax formulated for rotary polishing. Farecla G10 is optimally engineered as a companion product, but other quality finishing products work effectively with this pad.

Why is air-flow profiling important in a finishing pad?

Air-flow profiling channels heat away from the polishing surface, preventing thermal buildup during extended polishing sessions. This heat management allows longer working times without risking paint damage and contributes to superior, more consistent gloss development throughout the polishing process.
