CRC 5-56 + PTFE

Professional penetrating lubricant with PTFE for rust removal and long-term protection.

SKU:

Low stock

⚙ Ideal For

  • Automotive technicians and mechanics
  • Industrial maintenance and factories
  • Workshop and garage operations
  • Electrical and ignition system work
  • Seized or corroded fasteners and assemblies

✔ Benefits

  • PTFE forms a low-friction protective film that keeps parts moving smoothly for weeks
  • Displaces moisture from wet electrical systems without disassembly
  • Over 95% active product content — more effective per spray than standard penetrants
  • 360° upside-down spray valve reaches tight spaces without manual handling
  • Corrosion barrier protects metal from humidity and salt spray exposure

Standard penetrating oils lose effectiveness quickly on seized parts. Electrical systems compromised by moisture often need disassembly or external drying before functionality returns.

CRC 5-56 + PTFE addresses both: the PTFE particles form a protective low-friction film that stays on the surface and resists vibration-induced creep, while the paraffinic oil base actively displaces moisture from connectors, wiring, and ignition systems without requiring system takedown.

Key Features

  • PTFE-Enhanced Lubrication — PTFE particles form a low-friction protective film that stays on the surface, improving initial movement and maintaining smooth operation for weeks in high-vibration environments. Far more effective than standard oils for parts that move repeatedly or cycle under load.
  • Moisture Displacement for Electrical Systems — Actively displaces water from ignition systems, battery terminals, and electrical connectors, restoring conductivity without requiring disassembly or external drying. Critical for starting wet engines or restoring failed electrical connections in damp conditions.
  • High Active Product — Pressurised with non-flammable CO₂ rather than hydrocarbons, delivering over 95% active product content — meaning every spray is highly concentrated lubricant, not propellant. More efficient per application than hydrocarbon-propelled alternatives.
  • Professional 360° Aerosol Design — The 500 mL aerosol features a 360° upside-down spray valve for awkward angles and a 2-spray valve for precision control. Ideal for reaching tight spaces in engine bays, undersides, and confined areas without manual inversion or secondary tools.
  • Wide-Temperature Protection — Operates reliably from -50°C to +100°C, making it suitable for winter repairs, engine bays, and industrial environments. Protective film resists breakdown across thermal extremes without loss of lubrication effectiveness.

Description

How PTFE Solves the Reapplication Problem

Standard penetrating oils provide immediate relief on seized parts but lose effectiveness within hours or days, requiring repeated applications. The PTFE additive in this formula creates a lasting low-friction film that adheres to metal surfaces and resists the vibration, heat, and mechanical stress that normally cause lubricants to migrate or degrade. Once initial penetration is achieved, parts remain protected and moving smoothly far longer than with conventional penetrants.

Electrical System Protection Without Disassembly

Wet ignition systems, corroded battery terminals, and damp electrical connectors are among the most common causes of vehicle starting failure. Rather than requiring disassembly or external drying, this product actively displaces water and moisture from within electrical systems, restoring conductivity directly. This is particularly valuable in field repairs where immediate restoration of function is critical.

Versatility Across Applications and Environments

Works on all metals, alloys, and most paints and coatings without surface-specific preparation. Suitable for automotive work (ignition systems, distributors, battery terminals, fasteners), industrial maintenance, home repairs (locks, hinges, mechanisms), and leisure equipment (bicycles, fishing gear, marine hardware). The universal compatibility eliminates the need to stock multiple penetrating products.

More Information

Application Instructions

  1. Assess and prepare the surface — Inspect the seized part or corroded connection. For electrical work, ensure equipment is switched off. Wipe away loose scale, dirt, or grease to allow the spray to reach the underlying corrosion and improve penetration.
  2. Apply the product generously — Direct the spray nozzle at the problem area. Use the 2-spray valve for precision application or the wide spray setting for broad coverage. For hard-to-reach spaces, attach the extension tube or use the 360° upside-down valve to avoid manual inversion.
  3. Allow full penetration time — Penetration takes minutes for light corrosion and significantly longer for severely seized parts. For stubborn fasteners, reapply after 5–10 minutes and allow further soaking. Patience at this stage dramatically improves results; do not force movement prematurely.
  4. Test movement gently — After the first penetration period, gently test whether the part has begun to move. If still seized, reapply and wait longer rather than forcing, which risks damage to the part or tool. Overnight soaking helps in extreme cases.
  5. Clean excess product — Once work is complete, remove residue with CRC Brakleen or CRC Quickleen. This is especially important for precision electrical work or visible parts where residue could affect appearance or functionality.

FAQs

How long does it take CRC 5-56 + PTFE to work?

Initial penetration typically occurs within minutes for light corrosion. Severely seized parts may require 5–15 minutes or longer, and overnight soaking can help extreme cases. Once movement is restored, the PTFE additive continues to protect and lubricate the part long-term.

Is this safe to use on electrical components and painted surfaces?

Yes, it's specifically designed for ignition systems, battery terminals, and most paints and coatings. Always test on sensitive or delicate finishes first. Does not leave stains on transparent materials when applied carefully.

Is CRC 5-56 + PTFE flammable?

The product has a flash point of 78°C, making it non-flammable in normal use. The aerosol is pressurised with non-flammable CO₂, not hydrocarbons. Always ensure good ventilation during application and keep away from open flames or sparks.

What makes PTFE different from standard penetrating oils?

Standard penetrating oils provide quick penetration and short-term lubrication but lose effectiveness within hours. The PTFE additive creates a lasting low-friction film that stays on the part and protects it through vibration and thermal cycling. This makes it essential for high-wear or high-vibration applications where repeated reapplication would otherwise be necessary.
