CarPro Gloss Pad 6"
CarPro Gloss Pad is a premium 6-inch finishing pad engineered to deliver mirror-like high-gloss results on all paintwork. The Japanese open-cell foam and dense urethane interlayer absorb vibration, allowing finishing polishes to perform at their peak performance.
Key Features
- Japanese Premium Open-Cell Foam — Superior foam formulation sourced from Japan delivers exceptional gloss refinement, enhancing the performance of finishing polishes and creating smooth, reflective surfaces.
- Dense Urethane Interlayer Vibration Absorption — The interlayer absorbs polisher vibration before it reaches the polishing surface, allowing abrasives to work more effectively and smoothly without interference or chatter.
- Even Pressure Distribution — The pad's design ensures pressure distributes evenly across curved and contoured paint surfaces, preventing uneven gloss or patchy results on complex panel geometries.
- Bevelled Edge Safety Profile — The bevelled edge design allows the pad face to contour away from the backing plate, making it safer to work near edges, door handles, and tight spots without accidental contact damage.
- Perfect for Finishing Polishes — Engineered specifically as a second-stage finishing pad, working with finishing polishes like CarPro Reflect to achieve flawless, show-quality gloss.
Description
Why Finishing Pads Are Different From Cutting Pads
Cutting pads are engineered for aggressive abrasive action — they remove scratches and defects through mechanical cutting. Finishing pads, by contrast, are designed to refine rather than cut. They work with fine finishing polishes that contain minimal abrasive grain; instead, they rely on polymers and gloss enhancers to create depth, clarity, and reflection. A good finishing pad must distribute these gloss-enhancing compounds evenly without causing the pad to bounce or chatter, which would create uneven results. CarPro Gloss Pad is engineered specifically for this finishing role.
Japanese Foam Technology for Superior Refinement
Japanese foam manufacturers have refined polyurethane foam chemistry over decades, optimising the cellular structure for specific polishing applications. Premium Japanese open-cell foam provides superior responsiveness and consistency compared to standard foam. The open-cell structure allows finishing polish to penetrate and spread evenly, whilst the foam's density maintains shape and support throughout the pad's lifespan.
Vibration Absorption for Smooth Polishing Action
All rotary and dual-action polishers generate vibration during operation. This vibration transfers to the polishing pad and can interfere with the abrasive action, creating uneven results or microchatter that manifests as slight texture rather than smooth gloss. The dense urethane interlayer in CarPro Gloss Pad absorbs this vibration before it reaches the polishing surface, allowing the finishing polish to work smoothly without interference. The result is noticeably smoother, more uniform gloss across entire panels.
Beveled Edge Design for Precision and Safety
Standard polishing pads have sharp edges that can catch and damage paint near edges, door handles, and tight spots. The beveled profile allows the pad face to angle away from the backing plate naturally, creating a safety margin near obstacles. This design detail makes it safer to work near edges without the risk of accidentally striking trim or body lines.
Companion Relationship With Finishing Polishes
CarPro Gloss Pad is engineered to work optimally with finishing polishes like CarPro Reflect. The pad's characteristics are tuned to deliver the gloss-enhancing compounds in these polishes most effectively. Using a purpose-engineered pad with purpose-engineered polish ensures you're getting the full performance potential that the polish is designed to deliver.
More Information
Application Instructions
- Attach to polisher backing plate — Secure the 6-inch CarPro Gloss Pad to the hook-and-loop backing plate of your dual-action or rotary polisher.
- Select finishing polish — Choose an appropriate finishing polish such as CarPro Reflect. Finishing polishes are essential for achieving the high-gloss results this pad is engineered for.
- Prepare painted surface — Ensure the paint has been thoroughly cleaned and any cutting or intermediate polishing steps are complete. The surface should be free of dust and ready for finishing.
- Apply finishing polish sparingly — Apply a small amount of finishing polish to the pad. Finishing polishes are concentrated and require minimal product — less is better than excess.
- Spread at low speed — Start the polisher at low speed to spread the finishing polish evenly across the panel. Avoid high speed initially, which can cause product sling.
- Work overlapping passes — Using slow, overlapping passes, work the polish into the paint surface. Allow sufficient time for the polish to spread and the gloss enhancers to work.
- Maintain moderate speed — Increase polisher speed to moderate levels (1000–1500 rpm for dual-action, 800–1200 rpm for rotary) to activate the gloss enhancers without causing excessive heat or product loss.
- Observe gloss development — Watch as the gloss develops across the panel. The vibration-absorption technology allows smooth, even gloss development without chatter or unevenness.
- Complete panel coverage — Work systematically across the entire panel ensuring complete coverage and uniform gloss across all areas.
- Buff away residue — Once polishing is complete, wipe away any remaining polish residue with a clean, high-quality microfibre towel, revealing the mirror-like gloss finish.
- Final inspection — Examine the finished surface in various lighting conditions to verify uniform gloss and clarity across the entire panel.

FAQs
What's the difference between a gloss pad and a cutting pad?
Cutting pads are engineered for aggressive abrasive action to remove scratches and defects. Gloss pads are designed for fine polishing — they refine and enhance gloss using finishing polishes with minimal abrasives. Use cutting pads for correction, gloss pads for final finishing and gloss enhancement.
Why is vibration absorption important in a finishing pad?
Vibration from the polisher can interfere with smooth finishing polish application, creating uneven results or microchatter that appears as slight texture rather than perfect gloss. The CarPro Gloss Pad's vibration absorption allows the finishing polish to work smoothly without interference, delivering mirror-like results.
Do I need to use CarPro Reflect with this pad, or can I use other finishing polishes?
The pad works with all finishing polishes. CarPro Reflect is optimally engineered as a companion product and delivers outstanding results together, but other quality finishing polishes will also work effectively with this pad.
Can I use the Gloss Pad on a cutting stage, or is it finishing-only?
The Gloss Pad is engineered specifically for finishing and final gloss enhancement. For cutting and defect removal, use appropriate cutting pads. The Gloss Pad is too soft for effective cutting action and is best reserved for the final finishing stage.
