2. Prime the pad — Apply CarPro Fixer or appropriate cutting compound to the pad to prime it before application to paint. This creates a lubricant layer and activates the polishing action.
3. Apply polish to paint — Apply a few drops of cutting compound to the paint surface or pad according to your skill level. Start conservatively — you can always add more product.
4. Begin on low speed — Start the rotary polisher at low speed (300–600 rpm) to spread the polish evenly and assess the pad's cutting action.
5. Work a manageable section — Work 2x2 ft sections or larger depending on your experience. Larger sections help distribute heat; smaller sections allow better control and observation.
6. Increase speed gradually — Once spread, increase polisher speed to approximately 1200 rpm (adjust as needed based on cutting progress and paint response).
7. Observe with proper lighting — Use spotlights or work in bright conditions to observe orange peel removal progress. The pad cuts aggressively — monitor closely to avoid over-cutting.
8. Use light to minimal pressure — Let the abrasive pad do the work. Heavy pressure increases heat generation and risk of clear coat damage. Proper lighting and technique are more important than pressure.
9. Monitor paint temperature frequently — Periodically stop and check paint temperature. The surface should not become hot to the touch. If temperature rises excessively, stop, allow cooling, and reduce speed or pressure.
10. Re-activate lubricants as needed — As the polish dries, spray a light mist of water onto the pad to re-activate the cutting lubricants and extend working time.
11. Step down speed at finish — As you complete each section, reduce speed to 600 rpm for the final pass to refine the finish and reduce any micro-scratches created during cutting.
12. Refine with foam pad — After Denim pad removal is complete, refine the finish with a standard foam polishing pad and finishing polish to achieve maximum gloss and remove any residual texture.
13. Final inspection — Under good lighting, verify that orange peel has been substantially reduced or eliminated and the paint maintains acceptable clarity and gloss.
