Description
Advanced Acetoxy Curing System
Ambersil 5024A is a professional-grade silicone adhesive sealant engineered for high-performance sealing and bonding applications. As a high modulus, one-part acetoxy curing system, it reacts quickly with atmospheric moisture to transition from a thixotropic paste into a flexible, high-strength rubber seal. The formulation is specifically designed to meet the rigorous standards of ISO 11600 F & G, Class 20HM, ensuring it provides reliable structural integrity in demanding industrial environments.
Superior Mechanical Properties and Durability
Once fully cured, this silicone sealant exhibits a tough, rubberised finish capable of withstanding repeated extension and compression cycles during service. It maintains a high tensile strength of at least 1.55 MPa and an elongation at break exceeding 450%. These mechanical properties ensure the joint remains ensure the joint remains intact despite thermal expansion or mechanical vibration. The chemical composition provides long-term resistance to environmental stressors, preventing the discolouration, cracking, or hardening often seen in lower-grade sealants.
Versatile Substrate Compatibility
The 502A variant is optimised for adhesion to a wide varietyu of non-porous surfaces. It is an ideal solution for glazing applications, ceramic tiling, and metal fabrication, including aluminium components. Its thixotropic nature allows for easy extrusion and application over a broad temperature range without the risk of the product slumping out of the joint. It is equally effective when used as a space-filling adhesive or for creating formed-in-place in mechanical assemblies.
Thermal and Environmental Resistance
Designed to operate in extreme conditions, the cured compound remains stable across a temperature spectrum from -50°C to 204°C, with the ability to withstand short-term excursions up to 218°C. This makes it suitable for applications near heat sources or in cryogenic environments. Additionally, the product features a high flash point (greater than 100°C) and burns to a dry ash without dripping, enhancing safety in high-temperature installations.

Application Instructions
- Ensure joint dimensions comply with technical drawings; the mean joint width should be at least four times the expected movement.
- Clean all joint faces to ensure they are free from frost, debris, dust, oil, and grease.
- Use a non-oily solvent, such as Ambersil Amberklene FE10 to decontaminate non-porous surfaces.
- Remove any flaking paint or lacquer from the substrate prior to application.
- Insert a suitable back-up material, such as expanded polyethylene rod, to control sealant depth and prevent three-point adhesion.
- Apply the sealant steadily into the joint, ensuring complete wetting of the bond surfaces.
- Tool the sealant within 8 to 30 minutes of application before the skin forms to ensure a professional finish and optimal contact.
