Description

Acetoxy Cure RTV Technology

Ambersil 5005A is a one-part Room Temperature Vulcanising (RTV) silicone sealant that cures upon exposure to atmospheric moisture. This acetoxy-cure system is prioritised for industrial applications requiring a fast skin-over time and a high-strength bond. Once cured, the sealant forms a tough, flexible rubber seal that can accommodate thermal expansion and contraction without losing its structural integrity. It conforms to ISO 1600 standards, ensuring consistent performance in professional engineering and construction environments.

Formed-In-Place Gasket Capability

The high-modulus and non-slump characteristics of this sealant make it an ideal choice for creating formed-in-place gaskets. Unlike lower viscosity sealants, Ambersil 5005A maintains its profile upon application, allowing it to bridge gaps and provide a reliable seal even on vertical or overhead surfaces. This eliminates the need for stocking multiple pre-cut gaskets, as the sealant can be applied directly to flange faces to create a custom-fir, leak-proof barrier against air, water, and various industrial fluids.

Thermal and Environmental Resilience

This silicone adhesive is formulated to withstand demanding operational conditions. With a maximum temperature threshold of 204°C, it remains stable in proximity to engines, heaters, and industrial processing equipment. Beyond thermal resistance, the cured silicone is highly resistant to UV radiation, ozone, and extreme weather conditions. This makes it equally effective for outdoor sealing tasks where standard organic sealants might degrade or become brittle over time.

Versatile Industrial Bonding

The chemical composition of Ambersil 5005A ensures a high-tenacity bond to non-porous surfaces. It is frequently utilised in the assembly of electrical consoles, the sealing of ductwork, and the bonding of trim components. The clear or pigmented finish (depending on specific variant) provides a professional aesthetic, while the moisture-curing process ensures that the bond remains waterproof and airtight, protecting sensitive internal components from environmental ingress.

More Information

Application Instructions

  1. Ensure all surfaces to be bonded or sealed are clean, dry, and free from grease, old sealant, or loose debris.
  2. Remove the cap from the 75ml squeezy tube and pierce the seal if necessary.
  3. Apply a continuous bead of the sealant to one of the prepared surfaces.
  4. For gasketing applications, assemble the parts while the silicone is still wet (within the skin-over time).
  5. For bonding, press the two surfaces together firmly to ensure maximum contact.
  6. Tool the sealant within 5-10 minutes of application to achieve a smooth finish and ensure full surface wetting.
  7. Allow the sealant to cure fully before subjecting the assembly to operational loads or high temperatures; cure rate is typically 2-3mm per 24 hours.
  8. Replace the cap securely after use to prevent the remaining product from curing in the nozzle.
