Description

Dry Dust Removal Challenges on Precision Equipment

Precision equipment—gas burners, heat exchangers, cooling fins, electrical components—accumulates dust and dry contaminants that impair efficiency and reliability. Manual brushing risks damaging delicate fins or introducing moisture. Liquid cleaners are inappropriate for dry contamination removal and can damage electrical components. PD-90 addresses this challenge through physics-based dust removal—powerful air blast dislodges contamination without contact, moisture, or solvents.

Gas Burner Jet Cleaning and Efficiency Restoration

Gas burner jets accumulate deposits and dust that restrict fuel flow, degrading combustion efficiency. Boiler efficiency loss increases operating costs substantially. PD-90's powerful air blast instantly clears burner jets, restoring optimal fuel atomisation and combustion efficiency. This efficiency restoration reduces fuel consumption and improves heating performance, translating to both cost savings and environmental benefit.

Heat Exchanger and Cooling Fin Restoration

Heat exchanger fins are extremely fine and delicate—vigorous brushing damages them, reducing heat transfer performance. Accumulating dust blocks airflow through fins, dramatically reducing heat exchange effectiveness. PD-90's non-contact air blast dislodges dust without fin damage, restoring full heat transfer performance. This non-contact approach is essential for protecting delicate fin structures whilst achieving thorough cleaning.

Electrical Equipment Safety and Contamination Removal

Dust accumulation on electrical components—motors, transformers, switchgear—creates insulation breakdown risk and heat dissipation problems. Traditional compressed air systems can condense moisture during discharge, introducing water-related hazards. PD-90's dry discharge provides purely dry air without moisture condensation, enabling safe dust removal from live electrical equipment. The non-flammable formulation eliminates spark ignition risk.

Non-Contact Precision Cleaning Philosophy

Contact-based cleaning (brushing, wiping) risks component damage and introduces contaminants. Non-contact air cleaning achieves thorough dust removal without touching sensitive surfaces. This contact-free approach is ideal for delicate components, precision instruments, optical surfaces, and anything requiring cleaning without mechanical contact or residue introduction.

Low Global Warming Potential Propellant Technology

Traditional dusters often use high-GWP propellants (typically 1000+) that contribute substantially to environmental impact. PD-90's GWP of 6 represents a dramatic environmental improvement—using PD-90 instead of traditional dusters reduces propellant environmental impact by 150+ times. This ecological benefit aligns with modern environmental responsibility expectations.

Application Instructions

Do not shake the can before use. Unlike most aerosols, PD-90 must not be shaken—the propellant provides the discharge force; shaking can affect discharge characteristics.

Prepare the area for dust containment. If the area permits, contain dust discharge to prevent spreading contamination; position the can to direct dust away from operators and adjacent equipment.

Hold the can in upright position. Maintain vertical orientation for optimal air discharge and consistent blast pressure.

Identify the contamination requiring removal. Locate dust, debris, or dry contamination on burner jets, fins, or components.

Locate the extension tube if needed. For hard-to-reach areas, attach the extension tube to the spray nozzle before application.

Spray directly onto the affected area. Direct the air blast precisely onto the contamination requiring removal.

Use short, controlled bursts. Discharge in brief 1–2 second bursts rather than continuous spray; bursts are more effective and control dust spread.

Maintain safe distance from delicate surfaces. For fine fins or delicate components, maintain 5–10 cm distance; adjust distance based on discharge intensity and component fragility.

Do not invert the can. Inversion changes discharge characteristics and can introduce liquid propellant instead of dry air.

Repeat bursts as needed for complete cleaning. Multiple short bursts ensure thorough dust removal without excessive discharge or waste.

Monitor electrical equipment temperature. For electrical equipment, ensure ambient temperature remains below 28°C during application—higher temperatures require caution around energised equipment.

Allow residual dust to settle. After discharge, allow dispersed dust to settle before resuming operation of cleaned equipment.

Verify cleaning effectiveness. Inspect cleaned surfaces to confirm all loose contamination has been removed.

FAQs

Why shouldn't I shake the PD-90 can before use, unlike most other aerosols?

PD-90 is a pure propellant-based duster (unlike aerosols mixing product with propellant). Shaking the can introduces the propellant into the discharge stream, which can affect discharge characteristics and consistency. The discharge gas is the cleaning agent; shaking can introduce liquid propellant instead of the desired dry air. Keep the can upright and don't shake to ensure consistent, powerful air discharge.

Can PD-90 be used on live electrical equipment, or must electrical systems be de-energised first?

PD-90 is safe for use on energised electrical equipment due to its non-flammable formulation. However, CRC recommends that ambient temperature should remain below 28°C during application on live electrical equipment. At elevated ambient temperatures (>28°C), there's a narrow flammable range under high-energy ignition conditions. For safe operation, verify ambient temperature or de-energise if uncertainty exists about environmental conditions.

How far should I hold PD-90 from delicate components like heat exchanger fins to avoid damage?

Maintain 5–10 cm distance for delicate components like heat exchanger fins. The powerful discharge can damage extremely fine fins at closer range. Adjust distance based on fin fragility and discharge intensity—thicker or more robust components tolerate closer distance. Start with longer distance and move closer as needed if dust removal is incomplete. Short bursts rather than continuous spray provide better control and precision.

Is PD-90 effective on dust that's oily or wet, or only on dry contamination?

PD-90 is engineered for dry contamination removal only. Oily or wet dust won't be effectively removed by air blast—liquid solvents or cleaners are required for oily contamination. For purely dry dust, PD-90 is ideal. If contamination is mixed (dry dust plus oily residue), remove dry dust with PD-90 first, then address oily contamination separately with appropriate cleaners.
