Fabric and carpet fibres trap dirt particles deep within their structure where surface cleaning cannot reach. Scotchgard's foaming action penetrates into fibre networks, carrying cleaning agents deep into the pile. The foam expands to maximise surface contact, breaking up ingrained dirt and stain compounds that would resist surface-only cleaning methods.

Dirt Suspension and Stain Lifting

Rather than merely dissolving surface contamination, the cleaner chemistry actively suspends dirt particles and stain compounds, holding them in solution where they can be easily blotted and rinsed away. This prevents the common problem of soil being pushed deeper into fabrics during the cleaning process.

Application Instructions

  1. Test a hidden section for colourfastness. Always test on an inconspicuous area before treating visible surfaces to ensure the product doesn't affect fabric colour.
  2. Remove excess mud, dirt, food, etc., and blot up wet spills. Clear gross contamination before cleaning to allow the cleaner to focus on remaining stains.
  3. Vacuum loose, dried debris before cleaning. Removing loose dirt prevents it from being churned back into the fabric during cleaning.
  4. Protect surrounding area from overspray; if overspray occurs, quickly wipe up. Scotchgard foam can affect surfaces not intended for treatment—protect nearby areas and clean overspray immediately.
  5. Shake can well. Ensure the cleaning and protective agents are evenly mixed throughout the can.
  6. Hold can 4–6 inches from fabric or carpet; spray an even coating of foam on fabric. Consistent distance and even application ensure uniform cleaning and protection.
  7. Wait 3–5 minutes. The foam requires dwell time to penetrate fibres and break up dirt and stain compounds.
  8. Blot or lightly rub area with a clean, damp cloth or colourfast sponge. Gentle agitation helps loosen stubborn stains; aggressive scrubbing can damage delicate fabrics.
  9. Rinse cloth and repeat until clean. Multiple blotting cycles remove suspended dirt and reduce cleaning agent residue.
