A single promoter addressing all these types simplifies repair workflows and eliminates the need for multiple specialty products. Post-Grinding Surface Preparation

Plastic repairs typically begin with grinding to remove damaged material, creating a rough surface. The promoter is applied to this prepared surface immediately after grinding, taking advantage of the fresh, activated plastic whilst preventing oxidation or contamination that would reduce adhesive effectiveness.

Application Instructions

Prepare the plastic surface. Remove all loose material, dirt, and contaminants from the repair area through cleaning and drying.

Grind or roughen the plastic surface. Use grinding or abrasion to create a clean, mechanically activated surface suitable for adhesion promoter and adhesive bonding.

Clean away grinding dust. Brush or wipe away all grinding dust and debris from the treated surface.

Shake the promoter canister well. Mix the contents by shaking for 10–15 seconds to ensure even ingredient distribution throughout the aerosol.

Confirm plastic type compatibility. Verify that the plastic surface bears mould marks PP, EP, TPO, or EPDM indicating polyolefin composition suitable for this promoter.

Spray a light, even mist. Using the aerosol, apply a light mist from approximately 15–20 cm distance, covering the entire prepared surface evenly without over-saturation.

Allow drying time. Let the promoter dry for 10 minutes at room temperature before proceeding to adhesive application.

Wait 15 minutes before adhesive application. Although the promoter dries in 10 minutes, allowing a full 15-minute wait optimises surface preparation before adhesive application.

Apply adhesive immediately after waiting. Once the 15-minute window has passed, apply 3M plastic repair adhesive or superfast plastic adhesive according to the adhesive product instructions.

Follow adhesive cure specifications. Allow the adhesive to cure according to its specific instructions; curing time varies depending on adhesive type and thickness.
