Description
Permanent Corrosion Protection
Würth Zinc 300 is a zinc-rich corrosion protection coating designed to provide lasting resistance to rust and environmental exposure. With a zinc content of 91% in the dry film and a purity rating of 99%, it offers reliable cathodic protection comparable to hot-dip galvanisation. The coating acts as a sacrificial layer, protecting the underlying steel even if the surface is scratched or damaged.
Fast Drying and Durable
The formulation ensures quick surface drying within 15 minutes and achieves full grip strength in just 45 minutes at 20°C. Complete through-drying is reached in 2–3 days, creating a tough, abrasion-resistant layer suitable for industrial applications. With a temperature resistance of up to 300°C, Zinc 300 performs reliably in both standard and high-heat environments.
Hot-Dip Zinc-Plated Appearance
Once cured, the coating provides a silver-coloured finish resembling hot-dip galvanisation, making it not only protective but also visually consistent with existing zinc-plated surfaces.
Versatile Applications
The product is ideally suited for use in steel construction, shipbuilding, forging, metal fabrication, and vehicle construction. It is particularly effective for touching up damaged areas on zinc-coated components and welding seams where maintaining protective continuity is essential. Please note: Zinc 300 is not suitable as a zinc-dust primer for heavy-duty corrosion protection systems.
Paintability
The cured coating can be painted over with PVC-based paints and solvent- or water-based acrylates. However, it should not be overcoated with alkyd resins (synthetic resin paints) in combination with hot-dip zinc-plated surfaces, as this may cause adhesion or chemical compatibility issues.
More Information
Application Instructions
- Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, and loose particles.
- Shake the container thoroughly before use.
- Apply evenly, ensuring the touch-up layer thickness is at least 1,.5 times that of hot-dip zinc plating.
- Overlap the existing zinc-coated surface by at least 1 cm to ensure complete protection.
- Consumption guideline: 250-250 g/m^2 per coat.
- Allow to dry according to the specified curing times before handling or recoating.
Usage Notes
- Dry to the touch in approx.15 minutes at 20°C.
- Achieves grip strength in 45 minutes, with complete through-drying in 2-3 days.
- Suitable processing temperature: -25°C to 40°C.
- Always confirm paint compatibility on a test surface before recoating.
- Not suitable as a zinc-dust primer for heavy-duty corrosion protection.
