Description

Marine-Grade Performance

Würth PU Marine Adhesive Sealant is a specialised polyurethane-based adhesive and sealant developed for demanding applications in boat building, shipbuilding, and caravan construction. Its flame-retardant formulation provides an additional level of safety, while the broad adhesive range ensures strong bonding to a wide variety of materials commonly used in marine and construction industries.

Elasticity and Vibration Dampening

Thanks to its high elasticity, the adhesive compensates for material expansions and prevents stress cracks in joints. This property also helps to dampen vibrations and reduce noise, making it particularly valuable for marine environments where movement and impact loads are common.

Workability and Flexibility

With a slow skin formation time, Würth PU Marine allows sufficient working time to bond and position larger components before curing begins. Once cured, it can be mechanically processed - sanded, smoothed, or painted over (with restrictions). Please note that overly thick or hard paint layers may impair elasticity and lead to cracking.

Long-Term Resistance and Reliability

This adhesive provides lasting resistance to water, salt water, diluted acids, and alkalis, making it ideal for harsh marine conditions. It also resists short-term exposure to fuels, mineral oils, and both vegetable and animal fats/oils, while maintaining UV stability to ensure durability in outdoor use.

Certified for Marine Applications

Backed by an EC type examination certificate, the PU Marine Adhesive Sealant is officially approved for use in professional ship and boat construction, ensuring reliability and safety in compliance with marine standards.

Note:

  • Not suitable for deck caulking (wooden plank sealing).
  • Avoid contact with alkyd-resin paint systems.

Application Instructions

  1. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease.
  2. Refer to the technical data sheet for pre-treatment guidelines where necessary.
  3. Cut off the thread cap, attach the nozzle, and trim to the required bead width.
  4. Apply with a suitable cartridge gun.
  5. Smooth the adhesive during the skin formation phase to achieve a clean finish.
  6. Once cured, the product can be sanded or painted. Always test paint compatibility beforehand.
  7. Avoid thick, rigid paint layers that may reduce flexibility.

Usage Notes:

  • Do not use for deck caulking applications.
  • Avoid contact with alkyd-resin paint systems.
  • Store below 25°C to preserve shelf life.
