Professional Joint Mortar for Stone and Ceramic Surfaces

Würth Cerafix 505 is a flexible and ductile cement-based joint mortar designed for use with both absorbent and non-absorbent ceramic and natural stone coverings. It is ideal for filling joints in fine earthenware, stoneware, porcelain tiles, brick tiles, and natural stone surfaces across a wide range of environments - from residential bathrooms to demanding industrial facilities.

Indoor and Outdoor Applications

With its resistance to weathering, moisture, freeze/thaw cycles, and heavy loads, Cerafix 505 can be confidently used on balconies, terraces, facades, swimmind pools, and underfloor heating systems. Its water- and dirt-repellent formulation ensures that finished joints remain smooth, easy to clean, and highly durable.

Efficient and Easy Processing

The mortar has a smooth, malleable consistency, requiring minimal effort to apply. It provides excellent edge adhesion and elutriation, helping to achieve a uniform joint finish with minimal wastage. With reduced dust levels and resealable packaging, it is a clean and practical solution for both small repairs and large-scale tiling projects.

Application Instructions

  1. Joints must be clean, dry, and free from mortar, adhesives, or separating substances.
  2. Absorbent substrates should be evenly moistened before filling.
  3. Mix 5kg of Cerafix 505 with 1.25-1.5L of clean water in a clean bucket using a paint stirrer.
  4. Allow the mix to mature for 5 minutes, then stir thoroughly again.
  5. Always maintain the same mixing ratio to avoid colour differences.
  6. Apply the mortar diagonally using a rubber filler, squeegee, or tile jointing float until the joints are fully filled.
  7. Clean surplus mortar with a moist sponge or sponge float, working diagonally or horizontally to avoid washing out joints.
  8. Replace dirty water regularly to achieve a clean joint pattern.
  9. Protect new joints from direct sunlight, high temperatures, wind, frost, and rain during curing.

Consumption (Guide Values)

  • 0.4-0.6 kg/m^2 for 3mm joint width.
  • 0.8-1.2 kg/m^2 for 5mm joint width.
  • 2.0-2.5 kg/m^2 for 8mm joint width.
  • 3.5-4.0 kg/m^2 for 12mm joint width.
  • 9.0-10.0 kg/m^2 for 25mm joint width.

Usage Notes

  • Do not add water or fresh mortar to mixes that have already started to harden.
  • For polished porcelain stoneware and some natural stone, colour pigments may settle into micropores - test grouting is recommended.
  • Avoid using dy cloths for cleaning, as dried grout particles may cause discolouration when rubbed into moist joints.
